Here are a few clarifications for the playoff field of 20: The Ivy and SWAC does not participate Assume a team must also reach 7 D1 wins to be eligible.for an at large. ALSO there are teams with still a chance of winning their Autobid but I have not listed due to upcoming schedule, will add as necessary.

FCS teams that can still entertain realistic playoff hopes. Schools are ranked by their chances of making the playoffs.. Current overall and conference records are in parentheses, and each team’s remaining schedule is listed with a brief synopsis of its chances. The adds of AQ means they got the Autobid or IN means I believe they have already made the field regardless of how they finish. The rank below is based on being in the playoffs not where I believe they will be seated. D11 wins are excluded with an **.

1. North Dakota State (8-1, 5-1 MVC)
The Games: S.Dak St, at Ill St

Outlook: IN The Bison are back in the drivers seat for the AB things are looking good regardless they are in the field at 8-3

2. Bethune Cookman (MEAC)

Outlook: AQ A one bid conference and one of the four above – I think Bethune

3. Central Arkansas (7-2, 6-1 Southland)**
The Games: N’wstern St, E Ilinois

Outlook:AQ They look to be in good shape but any loss puts things in doubt

4. Illinois State (8-2, 6-2 MVC)
The Games: NDSU

Outlook: IN An 8 win team out of the MVC gets in!

5. Albany/Wagner (NEC)

Outlook: AQ One bid conference Wagner gets the nod now

6. Lehigh (9-0, 3-0 Patriot)
The Games: Colgate, at Layfayette

Outlook: The at large field is hoping Lehigh doesn’t trip up

7. Stoney Brook (9-1, 5-0 Big South)
The Games: at Liberty

Outlook: In the drivers seat for the AB, one more win needed

8. Old Dominion (8-1, 5-1 CAA not eligible for Conf title)
The Games: W&M, at JMU

Outlook: Can’t win the AB but are fighting for a top seed

9. Montana State (7-1, 5-1 Big Sky)**
The Games: Port St, at Montana

Outlook: Needs to keep winning but see them in the post season with one more win.

10. Northern Arizona (7-1, 6-0 Big Sky)**
The Games: S. Utah, Cal Poly

Outlook: Win two more and in control of the Big Sky AB – one more secures the postseason

11. Ga Southern (7-2, 6-2 Southern)
The Games: Howard, at Georgia

Outlook: Don’t look now but GSU just won a share of the Socon but lost – they must win next week or are in real trouble – They will win no doubt!

12. Sam Houston State (6-2, 5-1 Southland)**
The Games: at N’wstern St, at Texas A&M

Outlook: A win next week puts them in the postseason and alive for a seed, the at large field hoping for loss this coming weekend

13. Eastern Washington 7-2, 5-2 Big Sky)
The Games: UC Davis, at Port St

Outlook: Schedule not as tough but much can happen as we have seen week to week

14. New Hampshire (8-2, 6-1 CAA)
The Games: Towson

Outlook: Needs a huge win next week to secure the AB

15. Appalachian State (7-3, 5-2 Southern)
The Games: Furman

Outlook: A huge win at Statesboro, all of a sudden ASU can capture a piece of the title and if they win next week (difficult) and UTC wins – ASU captures the Socon AB – GO FIGURE???

16. Wofford (6-2, 5-2 Southern)**
The Games: UTC, at S. Carolina

Outlook: Needs to win 1 more to make the field, in a 4 way tie for first place a loss next week will likely eliminate them from the postseason and again they will be WOFFFED

17. UT Martin (7-2, 5-1 OVC)
The Games: at Tenn Tech, Tenn St

Outlook: Avoid any more losses and they could win the AB

18. Tennessee State (8-2, 4-2 OVC)
The Games: at UT Martin

Outlook: Okay officially a mess in the OVC – a huge game looms at UT Martin

19. Indiana State (6-3, 5-2 MVC)
The Games: at Youngstown St

Outlook: Needs the victory at Youngstown to make the playoffs

20. South Dakota State (7-2, 5-1 MVC)
The Games: at NDSU, S. Dakota

Outlook: Still a tough schedule ahead but I think they get one more win and get in the field

21. Cal Poly (7-2, 5-2 Big Sky)
The Games: Idaho St, at N.Arizona

Outlook: Things continue to worsen for Cal Poly another loss may put them in real jeopardy of making the field

22. Villanova (6-3, 4-2 CAA)
The Games: JMU, at Delaware

Outlook: Elimination game next week

23. James Madison (7-2, 5-1 CAA)
The Games: at Villanova, ODU

Outlook: Again a log jam at the top and 2 tough games upcoming

24. Eastern Illinois (6-3, 5-1 OVC)
The Games: SEMO St, at C. Arkansas

Outlook: Needs 2 more wins to make the postseason

25. Richmond (6-3, 4-2 CAA)
The Games: Delaware, at W&M

Outlook: They can’t afford to lose again and I believe they won’t

26. Colgate (6-3, 4-0 Patriot)
The Games: at Lehigh, at Fordham

Outlook: Needs to knock off Lehigh next week – if they do a lot of teams will become more nervous

27. Towson (5-4, 4-2 CAA)
The Games: R. Island, at N. Hampshire

Outlook: Win out and you could be playing on Thanksgiving

28. Eastern Kentucky (7-3, 5-2 OVC)
The Games: Murray St.

Outlook: Need a win next week to stay in the mix

29. Citadel (5-4, 4-3 Southern)
The Games: at VMI, at Furman

Outlook: If they can win out, they have to be in the discussion

ASU as a 3 seed?? Over 1 loss teams from other power conferences?? The Homerism is strong in this one xcrazyx

I don't think there's any way Lehigh gets a top 5 seed - their schedule isn't strong and they haven't been blowing teams out despite the weaker schedule. And I say that as a Lehigh fan.

Here is why I agree with your process I think they will view the Socon as one of top conferences this year and I think may will lose in front of them so that is why I chose them - wasn't being a homer just trying to think things through...I am sure I am wrong

I was thinking the same thing and the fact that you could switch in UNH for Lehigh, but thought it might be the issue of attendance, because as the 5 seed it only matters for one game.

Yeah, from the Lehigh home games I've attended over the last 3 seasons (Villanova in 2010, New Hampshire in 2011, Columbia in 2012), as much as I hate to say it the attendance isn't that strong and that's a factor too. On the other hand, Villanova's attendance isn't strong either and that didn't stop the NCAA from giving the Wildcats multiple home games in the 2009 playoffs.

The flip side is Lehigh has been well-represented when they've played at Georgetown the last two times they've played there (in 2010 and this season). Heck in 2010, Lehigh fans outnumbered Georgetown fans.

No worries, my first thought was that it was a game that got messed up by the hurricane and I was wondering how they were going to get it in.

The OVC is rated high enough to command two playoff spots this year. The CAA bubble teams are in severe jeopardy.
