It is getting late in the season and I use to do a weekly outlook but this year I decided to wait until we got close to the end of the year before putting my list of 20 for both out here.

I'll wait a few days to post my top 5 for each but I will say ahead of time that it is completely wide open in the Buchanan. I could see 5 voters having a completely different top 5 for the award. You can't look at one guy for the Buchanan and say he has to be in the top 3 yet. As for the Payton, I think there are 2-3 names who are a must in the top 5. Those names for me are Maysonet, Mellette, and Heinicke. Breitenstein is also a very good argument for the top 3 and I think Bauman, Bell, Kaufman, Brockman, and Zenner have all been sensational and worth a mention.

Does TSN still have Cooper Taylor on the Buchanan list?

SBU is starting a massive twitter and media campaign for Maysonet that started today. The administration is making a HUGE push to lobby the committee, and Maysonet is putting the up numbers to back it up. No question he deserves a top 5 look - he makes defenses look downright silly when he has the ball.

Some big stars throughout FCS this year. Will be a tough decision.

Any chance that Steven Miller could get his name on the list? He is having a fantastic season. 1,077 rushing yards, 5.7 YPC, 9 rushing TD, 328 receiving yards, 4 TD catches.

Yes. He hasn't done enough in the last few weeks for me to put him on at this point, though. He is certainly a good player and one who will be looked at heavily in the postseason by the NFL.

Yes it will be tough. The most impressive thing about Maysonet besides his consistency is the fact that he has kept an All-Big Ten RB on the bench and had a chance to produce the numbers he has. If Maysonet was used more in the passing game he would be a top 140 draft pick for sure. He's been one of the biggest risers on my FCS board this year.

If he has another game like yesterday and has 3-5 more rushing TDs this year he certainly could put his name in my top 20. I will be interested to see what he does at his pro day as well because I think he could run sub 4.4s.
