I think they do a great job at covering their football squad. Here's link to articles from nsudemons.com...props to Doug Ireland and company in northwest Louisiana for what they do to provide coverage of the Demons football team...I'm always one to give a great SID staff their due...

Can you guys up there come down and help out a fellow "NSU"? Our sports information department is HORRIBLE!

SHSU has it rough with just one SID...the only institution in the conference with that situation. Even UCA has two SIDs and some schools in the conference have three members on their sports information staff.

I do not know much about the Nicholls St Sports Info staff. From what I've heard, they are great people and easy to work with. Nicholls St has a rough budget situation and they are a football school, dealing with even less money than some of the non-football institutions. You just never know what folks are dealing with and what limited resources they have, especially as many folks could be wearing so many different hats for an athletic department, just like they could any other line of work...

Reminds me of Colorado....

Northwestern St is going to need some good offensive play this year to compete in the SLC. Known for the Purple Swarm defense, but what's to make of the offense?

Meeks shines as offense sets pace in first full-contact practice

FOOTBALL: Stoker pleased with team's work in first day of full pads

NATCHITOCHES – Quarterback Ricky Joe Meeks sparkled, throwing three touchdown passes as Northwestern State’s passing game showed progress Tuesday in a brief goalline scrimmage that wrapped up the first full-contact practice of the Demon football team’s preseason camp.

Meeks threw two touchdown passes to senior Derrick Doyle and another to sophomore Adam Varnado and drew praise from head coach Scott Stoker after the two-hour practice, culminating with a 20-minute situational goalline scrimmage at Turpin Stadium.

“Ricky Joe had a real good day and that set a good tone,” said Stoker.

“Overall we played pitch and catch a lot better. Our personnel situation forced our hand a bit since we’re low on tight ends right now, but we have lots of capable wide outs and so we did work a lot of our four-receiver sets and we did a nice job.”

SHHHHH! Keep that kind of information quiet. We don't need another school with "deep pockets" stealing him away!

You do know the writer from the Shreveport Times copy his exact forums 80% of the time right??

Maybe I should have majored in Journalism instead of Business...

By da way....I know this is football but I found an interesting story for our rivals (one of them).

Yes, I read it in the paper this morning. Dave is a class act and will be a really good coach for the cowboys. Hated to lose him, but it is time for him to move up and get his chance.
