Perhaps because if they were successful and then recovered the onside kick and had a quick strike for a TD, it would be 38-35. They could afford to give up a FG without losing.

We played well tonight, and made John and his family proud. I knew we were goin to be in for a fight, and had what it took to win, but its nice to see it executed on the field. After the tough loss at Eastern, we were looking for some redemption. Poly was tough, and gave a heck of a fight, but we looked confident and comfortable out there, and gave them everything. I also think we had a twelfth man on he field wearing number 43 ;)

Thank you to the Cal Poly community as well. You guys showed some major class tonight, and he week leadin up to the game.
