You can have ALL the skill in the world, but the type of players it takes to run the option successfully are way different than APP's players. Wofford out played App today. Officials cost Wofford 3 points and App 7. Wofford still wins. They basicly won with their defensive line nominating the App o-line. JJ just had very little time to go vertical so the entire passing attack was dink and dunk. Congrats dogs.

It had no bearing on the outcome-but how do you call the personal foul on the hit on the QB in the 4th quarter? A team that runs the option with a lot of misdirection, there's no way to know who has the ball and the QB has to be a fair target.

Otherwise congratulations to the little yapping dogs for whipping us all day on the line of scrimmage. We had our chances, but they beat us up pretty good.

So I can't truly comment one way or the other about what went down. But I'll have to admit that I'm not totally convinced that part of this is not just you being a sore loser. And you did post earlier that you were planning on heckling Stephon Shelton, but that's neither here nor there. If there was any taunting going on by Wofford players, coaches and/or fans, I will say that this behavior is unacceptable. As you suggested, it is not the way Ayers teaches his team to act.

As for the game, it was a very hard-fought win by the Terriers and a great way to bounce back after last week's disappointment. And when ASU plays the Eagles, I can promise you that I will be the biggest Mountaineer fan ever!

True to form, all players from both teams did partake in the post game prayer that ASU always holds. I believe they're the first road team this season to have everyone stay on the field.

Good post. It doesn't excuse any kind of unsportsmanlike behavior on the part of a Wofford in Paulson or KBS, but it certainly helps explain it.

An ASU fan asked me at work today how much Jerry paid the refs. This is one Appy that wasn't so happy, in fact his work wasn't snappy and it was also downright crappy. An ASU fan asked me at work today how much Jerry paid the refs. This is one Appy that wasn't so happy, in fact his work wasn't snappy and it was also downright crappy. I just told him to take his L like a man and stop being a sore loser. He then told me F you...original comeback. Very true. Like I said, I'm sure their adrenaline was pumping. But picking on fans may be considered a bit immature. I'm sure you'd feel the same way if App players came to your place and picked on your fans.

Maybe so, but if that's the case, so is putting 70 points on the board. While it might be alot of sour grapes, don't act like WC fans would simply ignore the same thing happening at Gibbs. Wofford isn't above a little showboating once in awhile.

I still wonder why police/security didn't stop those fans from rushing the field. They have never let Wofford students/fans rush the field/court at football or basketball games no matter how big of a win occurred.

I know this thread is about Wofford vs App, two teams that I don't like see losing, but after seeing some comments about rushing the field, I can't help but respond.

If the Griz beat ISU this Saturday @ Washington/Grizzly, I'm not sure that even SEAL Team 6 could stop the Grizzly faithful from rushing the field, and takin' down the goal posts!

I haven't noticed a whole lot of Wofford showboating in football. But, I went to the SoCon basketball tournment last year... and they had the WORST fans hands down. Not even close.

If I were conspiratorially minded I'd almost believe that the string of bad calls against the Panthers Sunday were payback by the refs for Richardson's stance in the recent strike/lockout.

They were playing the Cowboys, a team that ALWAYS gets calls. The NFL jizzes all over itself when it comes to the Cowboys. They do all they can to get them in the playoffs. I hate the Cowboys, mainly because they are league darlings and because many of their fans have never been anywhere near Dallas and probably couldn't find it on a map.

+1 for the Cowboy hate, but given that the three calls were all pretty close together late in the game and arguably cost the Panthers the game (especially the phantom time out) I'm not dismissing the refs getting a little payback.
