And Wofford only attempted 3. Must have been a quick game with all that running.

First half was about 58 minutes. The entire game was a bit under 2.5 hours (Injuries and timeouts in the second half).

I believe that Wofford attempted 8, completed 3.

Yeah, I just looked at the recap not the box score. They used 2 QBs

Interesting, and quite common in 1920. Frankosaurus at its best!

Checking to see but I heard on the radio that wofford did it against western in 1998. I don't have confirmation though.

Attempted one. Didn't complete it.

Nicholls did it against Florida A&M a few years back.

College passer rating ends up with a divide by 0, but the NFL method actually works with no attempts. GSU's QB had a passer rating of 39.58.

I was watching the Jax State-Eastern Illinois game on OVC.com yesterday and the EIU announcers said they had a game in 2000 or 2001 where they did not throw a pass in a game played in heavy rain. The QB that day was Tony Romo.

Erk Russsell is certainly smiling while looking down on Paulson.

From everyone else, seemed like there are some other instances. But I guess, its a record that CANNOT be beaten right?

Yep I just went back and checked the box score...we outgained you guys by almost 200 yards but still lost 42-25...that was during our "Division I-A" attempt back in 2004

They only tied the record. Sac State beat Northern Colorado in a monsoon last year without attempting a pass.

Actually they did attempt one, but it was called back on an OPI penalty so it didn't count.

Kind of hard to break a record like this.

The record is fewest passes attempted by either team. That is the FCS record according to USA today. I put this info in the other thread for the Gus/wofford game last night.

Clarification: GSU called about three pass plays (at least) but never actually threw the ball because of pressure/coverage. Wofford also had a few of those.

I'm sure he's smiling because of the defensive effort, but not because of the lack of pass plays. Back in the 80s, GSU used Tracy Ham and Raymond Gross to throw out of the flexbone quite a bit. Are there any GSU fans in here that have the stats from the 85, 86, and 89 championship games?

Interesting, but not much of a record. JMU defeated the then #1 ranked W&M in 2010 by throwing only 1 pass (which wasn't by JMU's starting QB). I'm sure there have been others.

In 2010 JMU beat then #1 W&M without completing a single pass. I believe that there was 1 pass attempt the entire game (incomplete). It was quite a show and just crazy to watch.

They used 2 QBs They used a two qb system against The Citadel earlier this season. I'm pretty certain it's their intent to swap out in an attempt to confuse the defense.

As Darrell Royal used to say, only 3 things can happen when you pass, and two of 'em are bad!xlolx

Going by memory, Ham threw for over 400 yards in the 85' championship. I know he passd for more than 5000 yds in his career.

Ham threw for over 400 yards w/5 TD's and rushed for about 100 against Furman in the 1985 title game.

In the 1986 title game against Arkansas State he threw for over 300 and rushed for over 180 which led Ark St. coach Larry Lacewell to quip after the game, "You can't tackle smoke."

Ham was the first QB in Division 1 to throw for over 5000 and rush for over 3000 in his career.
