College Sporting News' 2012 Week Six Game of the Week Preview
The two universities named for Texas history heroes Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin will meet for the 87th renewal of the "Battle of the Piney Woods". Last year, spectators literally flipped over the "Piney Woods" game as the "Flanders Flip" -- Timothy Flander's touchdown play in the second half -- earned the game national TV coverage. Since 2007, a 21-pound solid cedar trophy that displays replica pistols, similar to the pistols that were on the original “Piney Woods” trophy in the ’70’s awaits the game winner.
