CHARLESTON, S.C. – Maurice Price, Jada Ross and Collin Drafts were all named to the 2006 All-American teams put out by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette. Hansen named Price the Southeast Receiver of the Year and named Charleston Southern the team of the year in 2005 following CSU’s first Conference Championship in school history.

Price, a junior wide receiver, was named to the All-America second-team after recording 1,043 yards on 72 receptions in just eight games in 2005. His numbers put Price among the national leaders for receptions and yards per game. In his junior year, Price needs just 27 receptions and 500 yards to become the school leader in both categories.

Hansen named CSU junior linebacker Ross to the All-America third-team defense for the 2006 season. Ross is the defending Big South Defensive Player of the year and looks likely to repeat the honor in 2006. His 128 tackles led the conference last year and set the single-season record at Charleston Southern. Ross recorded 10 or more tackles in seven of the Buccaneers 11 games last season.

Senior quarterback Collin Drafts rounded out the group of honored Buccaneers, being named to the honorable mention team for 2006. Drafts was the 2005 Big South Offensive Player of the Year and has set every passing record in the books. Along with school records, Drafts owns the conference records for passing yards, attempts, completions, touchdowns, passing efficiency, passing yards per game and total offense per game.

The Buccaneers are coming off their best season in school history and will open the 2006 campaign on the road against Presbyterian. That game is scheduled for 1:30 and will be televised on ETV.
