Equal to the CS poll, both better than TSN.

Too high: Lehigh & No Iowa

Too low: SDSU & 'Nova

Yep...El Cid was so hard to place...it's like, "ERRR....was that a hiccup game?"

This poll also causes me to call out the 9 voters who gave votes to YALE.

ARE Y'ALL FOR REAL?!?!?

Yale 24 - GTown 21
Cornell 45 - Yale 6
Colgate 47 - Yale 24

WHAT ON EARTH WHO HAVE THEM SNIFFING THE TOP 40...let alone 25?

People...get your **** in gear. It is week 6.

Just will take an opportunity to point out a few things:

#1. The 17th ranked team in the country, who has a 20 point win over the #22 team in the country, lost on the road to the #3 ranked team by 3 points. I think this is more a case of #3 being overrated, but 14 spots in the rankings separate those two?

#2. Lehigh is 5-0, with the following wins (margin in parenthesis): Monmouth (10), CCSU (21), Princeton (3), Liberty (2), Fordham (3). That's FOUR wins by teams outside the top 25 by 10 points or less. Liberty is a team that got beat by a team NOT in the top 25 by more than 2 points. CCSU lost by 33 to UNH, who is ranked behind Lehigh in the poll. Fordham lost by 15 points to Villanova, who is way behind Lehigh in the poll..what is going on here?

Just a comment, how strange is it to not see Montana ranked? That and UNI at #24? UNI didn't make my poll but it was hard to leave them out. but at 1-4 how do you place them? SOS they have an argument but still they are 1-4. Interesting and yet a tough call.

Lehigh is a top 25 team, but they are continually be ranked 4-6 spots too high every week. Methinks many recall how good Lehigh was last year, ranked them in their top 15, see that they own a 5-0 record, and continue to rank them in the top 15. Just my hypothesis.

Don't get me wrong, they are a legitimate top 25 team who finds a way to win, but they're close to #20 than #10.

I couldn't drop UNI from my top 25 completely. I didn't really think that they deserved to still be in the top 25 at this point but I just think they're so much better than the teams I was considering replacing them with I couldn't drop them out completely.

4-1 Minnesota? This is a game that saw UNH's Offensive Coordinator unable to make the trip (stroke-like symptoms, hospitalized) and saw their starting QB (Goldrich) leave the game on the second play. Now, Andy Vailas has proven a capable FCS QB, but at the time he was coming in with second-team reps and no OC.

4-1 Minnesota?
Yes, look at who they've played and look at the margins. They'll win two more games this year tops and I would bet the under on that if I had to.

I edited my above post ... but what would most FCS schools do against their schedule? I mean, Syracuse beat Stony Brook, who is #9 in our poll, and Minn beat them. I agree that it's not remarkable, but Minnesota would be a top 5-10 FCS school, no doubt, and maybe higher. Combine that with missing your QB and your OC, and yeah, I think there are some reasons why it was as bad as it was.

Delaware has been quite an enigma for me so far. I'll also admit that I lost a little respect for UNH after assuming they'd at least compete and maybe beat Minnesota. They're gaining respect back on my side of things and don't worry, it won't go unnoticed as I do tend to throw the nod toward the CAA on occasion. There are 122 teams, so head to head can't always be the exclusive way to rank.

New Hampshire is ahead of Delaware in the poll that is released so whatcha getting all up in arms for that somebody posted their poll (which is their opinion which last I checked they were entitled to in this country) and had them the way they did?

Since when does "???" equal "so up in arms"? Also, when did I ever say that he wasn't entitled to his opinion. I am curious about why he voted the way he did, so I asked. Just as someone is entitled to their opinion when they vote; if they make their opinion public, others are entitled to question it...

My two cents on rankings:

Stony Brook (between 8-14)
New Hampshire (between 12-18)
Lehigh (between 14-20)
Albany (between 16-23)

In my poll I had: SBU 12, UNH, 15, Lehigh, 21, Albany, 17.

I can't believe hardly anyone has ISUr in the top five. They are undefeated with a FBS win and some nice quality FCS wins. They should have been in the playoffs last year and got screwed big time in my opinion.

They definitely have an argument for top five, although I think the majority of the teams in the poll would handle EMU.

Lehigh is very solid. Their offense is getting there and their defense, overall, is solid. They're good at taking away your strength. If they continue to improve they'll be a top 10 team. I'd love to see them get a shot at Montana St. The Bobcats have been a lot like Lehigh yet everyone loves them.

Your CAA bias seems to be going on here. How did last year's CAA champ do last year?

Nothing special yet - NAU has as solid if not better resume at this point.

But, they still have NDSU, UNI and YSU to get through. Win those, they will be top 5, easy.
They do miss SDSU, which has a better resume than ISUr, IMHO

Now granted they have won all of them, but they seemed to have struggled against a couple of teams they probably shouldn't have struggled against. Maybe both EIU and South Dakota are better than I am giving credit for (more so EIU).

Those are good points. Good luck on the rest of the season and maybe we will see you in the playoffs.....FargoDome preferabley. I don't think we have ever played you guys, maybe way back in the day, but I know we haven't in the last ten years or so. Well maybe we will meet up this year.

That's where it gets difficult, you have to go by the eye test with these teams. Instead of just looking at the scoreboard and seeing that a team is still undefeated.

I have seen them first hand in the FargoDome, granted it was last season, but I thought they had the most stoudt run defense that we played all year minus the Bearkats. They also have a very good senior qb in Brown and a load at rb. I'm not saying they will be top five at the end of the season, but up to this point they have a great argument.

I remember that last game, listening on the radio. After that loss, NDSU won 10 straight and lost to Texas St (then SW Texas St) in the DII Championship game.

Here's mine. Moved Lehigh to the highest I've had them all season (15, 14, 18, 15, now 13). Arguably, they might be better placed between 16-20. Not the best looking wins, but only three other teams can claim 5 D1 wins. For me, that's top 15-worthy. Should probably have included Tennessee State...

I think the OVC is an enigma this year. Are the teams good, or just fooling me?

EKU - returns a solid core and is the frontrunner. Didn't look good after week 2 with a 7 point victory over Morehead St., but finding their groove now.
Tennessee St. - so far undefeated, but is their domination of HBCUs in OOC top 25 worthy? I say yes because Bethune-Cookman is supposed to win the MEAC.
EIU - simply explosive on offense, as I am sure any Illinois State fan could tell you. 3-2, but the most challenging schedule of the OVC teams.

In addition to the above teams, UT-Martin, Jacksonville St. and Tennessee Tech provide some decent depth.

I suppose voters at AGS are just waiting for the conference's first playoff win in many years before these schools get any respect. Like the MEAC, it's been tough to shake off the CAA or SoCon in the post season.

I have Tenn State in...but...to say they should be in b/c they beat a team that should win the MEAC? How does that work. Frankly...the MEAC is really, really bad this year.

And Tenn Tech and Jax State?

Please pull up their records...show me the teams they played that garner them any consideration that those wins are deserving of a Top 25 spot.

I am curious...and maybe I am missing something. This is not sarcasm...but a serious "please show me so I can understand" post.

I realize that this may not be my question to answer, but I don't think he's saying Tech and JSU are worthy of a top 25 spot, just that they provide depth to the conference. Tech is certainly (in my opinion) not worthy of a spot. Heck, not even close. And JSU was in the top 25 before EKU beat them by 30 a couple of weeks ago.

The MEAC has not had success against FBS teams, but the MEACs FCS out of conference record is better than the NECs and the Big South. The NEC and Big South have two top-twenty teams, and then there is everyone else.

Winning % vs other FCS conferences:

MEAC 38%
NEC 29%
Big South 28%

This is no guarantee of a playoff win, seeing as the MEAC will still likely be paired with a CAA or SoCon team; however the MEAC isn't any worse off this year and actually the league appears to be stronger this year than it has been in a while. They have some very bad teams at the bottom, but then again the MEAC also has more teams than either the Big South or the NEC.

I figured we would have played way back, as I think we use to play a lot of the Big Sky teams. I got to college in 1990, which was the last year of the DII Championships, so I'm not familiar with who we played before say 1984-85ish.
