Biggest game in NEC this yr and biggest game in MU history!! Not to big for us though!!! We are focused!!!! should be a huge MU contingent...ANy Albany folks know what kind of crowd is expected? We had 6,200+ at the first game. If it rains I would expect a crappy turnout because the game is televised locally and the stadium blows.

My guess...2400 if it rains. SAD...but...good news...if we play you in OOC..we should have packed crowds in the new digs :)

I agree.

MU Hawk thinks this is for the FCS Championship. I almost hope Monmouth wins so I don't have to read this shlt any longer....and I am an Albany fan.

They are saying this is the biggest game in Monmouth history??? Really??? As far as UA is concerned its just another game.

If Monmouth wins its not like they will be ranked. If Albany wins it was just another game we are expected to win.

If UA beats Monmouth they will win the rest of their games without exception. And before all the Duquesne fans get up in arms about playing at "their house" and how UA got beat down ther 2 years ago...just relax, lets not confuse Rooney Field with "The Big Horseshoe".

Weather Forcast is 30% chance of rain. 60 Degrees. Crowd should be fine. I would expect a 4000 person turnout if it does not rain. Its Hall of Fame Weekend

I was very impressed with Albany. Hard to believe it is a limtied scholarship program.

As far as Duqesne goes, I've seen Pitt, Duquesne and you guys. You'll kill Duquesne. YSU would hang 60 on them. You may too.

LOLOLOLOLOL Guys calm down. I wasn't bashing anyone. Its fine for MU to be excited about the game. I am a former player and I find it silly that they feel this is the most important game in Monmouth history. It is a total lack of respect for the rest of the NEC, especially Duquesne.

When you play for Bob Ford every game is important be it Youngstown State or St. Francis. The Albany kids will be ready as I am sure the MU kids will be.

Halftime

Monmouth 10
Albany 24

Albany has 300 yards at the half almost evenly split at 150/150

Just got back home from the game..I am not saying this just because they smoked us, but Albany is right there with the BEST team I have seen us play against ever....and the team I am comparing them to is the Joe Flacco led Delaware team..Scary thing is I am not even sure Albany played their best game.. We certainly did not play well but I think 80% of that was b/c Albany was that much better...Monmouth was out-played out-coached and unfortunately out-classed today. I have no clue how Duquesne really is, but they will need to be REALLY good..Congratulations to the Albany faithful-- Hopefully this is the year an NEC team advances in the playoffs.. I see no reason why Albany cant play with most of the FCS.. But first things first- win out.. Albany Kicker is tremendous. Some very good athletes for Albany, a very balanced and well coached team.. The only real weakness I saw was Albany not defending well against the TE---AT first I was asking myself how this game might have been if We stopped them on the fake punt--but realistically we would have had to be perfect to win... I was definitely impressed, wrong and frankly surprised with how good Albany is for an "NEC" team.. we have not had a team this powerful probably ever?

This is the best NEC I've seen in the 12 years we've been in the NEC. It makes sense though, this is the 5th year of the first NEC scholarship class.

I think they showed that already when they took the #3 team to the wire on the road and were one dropped pass away from probably winning the game and then beat the #23 ranked team on the road the following week. If they don't win out in the NEC it will mean they got overconfident and let a team win a game by taking them lightly. I'm really excited about this team and even more excited to see what they can do with a full boat of scholarships over the next few years and a brand new stadium to show to recruits instead of the middle school field they have now.

I don't know what the 'surprise' is. Albany has been a quality team for at least six years with wins over Delaware, Lehigh, and very close losses to other FCS powers. With scholarships having kicked in, it is not 'surprising' as their success. I saw the same improvement, today, in watching Fordham, who is now in their third year of scholarships. The skill level improvement was apparent and Lehigh was fortunate to escape with a win. I am hopeful we'll see the same rise of talent in the next five years once our scholarships are fully distributed. The NEC is a much improved conference. Unfortunately, the horrendous scores of 7-10 years ago leave an impression that is tough to erase; but teams like Albany, Monmouth, Duquesne and RMU have been making noise. Just have keep it. Good luck!

People are still surprised though.

Albany's only blemish is a down-to-the-wire loss at a Top 3 team and yet I still wouldn't be surprised at all if we're not ranked this week.

We've manhandled a ranked team on the road and absolutely demolished a good Monmouth team which took a Top 15 Lehigh to the wire.

And my comments aren't directed towards you. I think the Patriot League teams understand the level of play the top of the NEC provides. I know Colgate fans know this year. It seems that most everyone else is ignoring Albany.

If we go 10-1 (still lots of time on the clock for that) we'll still probably end up in the opening round. No matter what we do the rest of the regular season, we probably won't crack the Top 20. People just can't believe a team with 38 scholarships can be as well balanced and deep as this. Fine with me. See you in the playoffs! (on the road!)

Great win for Albany and the fans. I do not think that YSU was expecting what UAlbany was going to bring when they played. Every single YSU fan I have spoken with cannot get over how good the Albany football team plays. There are constant comments about how well they play, and how well they are coached. The YSU fan base is very impressed and they are following Albany week by week. There are no real weaknesses on the football team. They could teach many teams on how to play defense, which IMOP has been less than stellar with most FCS teams. There are many YSU fans that really like how Albany plays. Much respect.

We only get decent attendance when there is something other than the game to attract fans. Remember, you can't see the game in the old stadium, so that alone won't be enough.

We'll get 6500+ at Homecoming in two weeks, but only 2,000 will be able to see.

I'm a UA football season ticket hold but I refuse to go to most games...I'm sick and tired of pacing back and forth with a group of other people behind the stands just so that I can see something...Right now I pay for the tickets as basically a donation. Bad weather + TV game + not being able to see the game unless I'm on my feet for 3 hours = I sit at home and watch it on my wall mounted 55" Samsung.

If that makes me a bad fan then I'm a bad fan! The view on my TV was glorious in HD.

I'm going to have to start driving the 2 hours for home games to stand behind the seats since our streaming services sucks and because the game was on TV there was no streaming radio feed either. I was furious yesterday and ended up having to listen to it on the Monmouth radio station online. :(

I feel your pain...they certainly don't make it easy to follow this program.

2001 Sacred Heart was the most dominant NEC team before now, but didn't play any tough competition and would not have been as competitive nationally.

Its a different level of NEC football now. I played in the early 2000s and I can tell you the level of athlete is dramatically higher across the board now.

That 2000 RMU team (10-0) was very good as well, but it was a different schedule and level of play that we have now in the NEC.

A ton has changed in the last decade or so. For exampl, this year's SFPA team probably would have been a legit contender in the early NEC era (prior to 2005).

The one thing that is predictable about the NEC is that the weather is so unpredictable that the best team dosent always win......The Danes will be 2 td favorites at least in every game and should be. The NEC always has a shocker or two........the danes shouldn't of lost a NEC game last year.............its gonna take some weather, a talented team and some luck to beat them this year.

Agreed. Not to mention the fact that because of the early season tough NEC games for Albany, the league AQ could be decided early on.

Im confident that this team will keep its focus though. These kids are unbelievably determined to make a statement this year and in the playoffs.

I wonder if a 9-2 duquesne team gets in.........I know the lopsided loss to odu looks bad but it was 27-23 with 11 min to go.........only losses would be to two top ten teams possibly. This is all assuming duquesne wins out except for albany.

I doubt it, but you never know. With historically good teams like UNI and Montana on the brink of lacking 7 DI wins, it could open the possibility for an at-large from a lower level conference.
