Redshirt freshman quarterback Vernon Adams was always expected to make an impact for the Eastern Washington University football team. He did just that with his arm and with his feet, leading the ninth-ranked Eagles to a 20-3 halftime lead and helping EWU open the 50th season of Big Sky Conference football with a 32-26 squeaker over Weber State Saturday (Sept. 22) at Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Utah.
