Mr. C is multi-tasking tonight, keeping track of two of the Thursday night games, Southeastern Louisiana at Tennessee-Martin and Mississippi Valley State at Southern, while also watching some early-season coaches video on another computer. We will see how that works. UT-Martin and SELU are getting ready to start in the next few minutes.

While watching this game, Mr. C is also watching film of The Citadel and Charleston Southern from the opening week of the season.

On Wednesday night at the Movies, Mr. C caught Youngstown State at Pittsburgh (five stars for that one), The Citadel at home against Georgia Southern (another great game) and a double feature of Tennessee-Chattanooga against Jacksonville State and South Florida. Some of those Chattanooga fans were a little off in their praise of the Mocs. That is a team with problems right now.

UTM's Carr completes a pass down to the SELU 14, a yard short of a first down, but defensive holding on the Lions is going to give the Skyhawks a critical first down

UTM just can't seem to execute right now inside the Lion 30. Here comes a fourth and long from the 20. And the Skyhawks turn the ball back over to the Lions. Three times into SELU territory with no points with 11 minutes left in the half.

Guess I'll have to settle for a replay of the Southern-Mississippi Valley State game. For some weird reason, ESPNU is BLACKED OUT on ESPN3. Sometimes the folks at ESPN are such idiots. Wouldn't they want as many people watching this game as possible?

In the ever-amazing world of televised college football, I found a replay of Saturday's Jackson State-Tennessee State game on SportSouth. No ESPNU on the TV I'm watching, however.

I was actually considering making the 400-mile drive from Boone, N.C. to Martin, TN. for this game, but couldn't make it work logistically. I have to be back in the Philly area on Saturday morning.

The UTM game should be pretty good?

I thought, coming in, it was a good battle of Southland and OVC teams.

It is early, but I like the looks of the UTM offensive line. They are opening some good holes.

UTM's staff is angry about an illegal substitution penalty that will set the Skyhawks back to the 25.

SELU QB Stanley had another pass deflected for nearly another interception.

And the half has ended. Tennessee-Martin 7, Southeastern Louisiana 0. It will be interesting to see what kind of adjustments are made in the second half. Can the Lions find a way to generate some offense and can UTM take advantage in the final third of the field. A lot of times, missed opportunities come back to haunt teams.

UTM completed another pass down to the SELU 30 as time expired in the first half. UTM has a 175-127 edge in offense after 30 minutes and held the ball for nearly six more minutes.

Tennessee State looked pretty sharp in the first half against Jackson State. TSU may be one of the top HBCU teams this season.

The replay of the Southern-Mississippi Valley State was about as bad as you would have expected of a 6-0 game between two SWAC bottom feeders, Why, oh why did the Jaguars ever get rid of the legend, Pete Richardson. What a blunder.
