Losing their Hampton Roads recruiting guru might not be a major blow to the Dukes.

Just because James Madison football lost its Tidewater-area recruiting guru, don’t expect the Dukes’ pipeline to Hampton Roads to run dry.
Former JMU offensive-line coach Curt Newsome took his considerable 757 area code ties to Blacksburg when he joined Virginia Tech’s staff this offseason, but two high school coaches from that area say Dukes coach Mickey Matthews has nothing to worry about. Harrisonburg apparently will still be a destination for plenty of their players.
"I think Coach Matthews, through Curt Newsome, has built some relationships with some guys down there," Denbigh coach Tracy Harrod said Tuesday at JMU’s high school football camp. "And they know this a good place to send their kids to play."
