Quarterback Joe Brennan, who appeared in six games at the University of Wisconsin last season, has transferred to Towson University and will play for the Tigers this season., it has been announced by Coach Rob Ambrose.

A native of Audubon, N.J. and a graduate of Camden Catholic High School, Brennan has three years of eligibility remaining.

“We are thrilled to have a player of Joe’s potential join our family,” said Coach Ambrose, who led the Tigers to a 9-3 record and the Colonial Athletic Association championship last year. “He is a quality young man who understands what it means to be a Tiger and he is excited about our future here.”

Rated as the top high school quarterback in New Jersey as a senior, Brennan was a two-time All-South Jersey selection. In 2009, he led Camden Catholic to a 9-2 record while completing 130 of 226 passes for 1,842 yards. He also threw 18 touchdown passes. As a junior, he passed for 2,438 yards and 25 touchdowns. He completed 147 of 255 passes in 2008 and earned first team All-Parochial honors. In his career, he also ran for 750 yards on 60 carries and scored four touchdowns for Coach Rick Brown.

Brennan was a three-sport standout for the Fighting Irish. He earned four letters in football, two in baseball and two in basketball.

A two-year starter at quarterback for Camden Catholic, he was a freshman red-shirt at Wisconsin in 2010. Last season, he was a member of Wisconsin’s Big Ten Conference championship team which faced Oregon in the Rose Bowl. He h elped the Badgers post an 11-3 record.

As a red-shirt freshman in 2011, Brennan appeared in six games. He completed 6 of 15 passes for 48 yards. He also ran for nine yards on six carries and scored one touchdown.

The 6-3, 210-pound Brennan had his best performance in the Badgers’ 62-17 win over Purdue. Against the Boilermakers, he completed three of four passes for 36 yards. Brennan also saw action against UNLV, Oregon State, Northern Illinois, South Dakota and Indiana.

He scored the first touchdown of his college career in a 49-7 victory over Northern Illinois. With 3:34 remaining, Brennan scored on a six-yard TD run for the final touchdown of the game.

The Tigers, who are ranked among the top ten teams in the FCS in virtually every pre-season poll, open their season on Thursday, August 30 at Kent State University at 7:00 p.m. Towson hosts William and Mary in its home opener on Sept. 15 at 12 noon.

This kid is there to provide depth behind Enders and to probably take over next year. Enders will be the starter.
