Kats game at Baylor on Fox College Sports
Fox College Sports will televise Sam Houston State's football game with Baylor in Waco Saturday, Sept. 15, the Big 12 Conference announced Wednesday.
The Bearkats take on the Bears at 6 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco that night.
Wednesday's announcement means that five Sam Houston State regular season football games will be televised during the 2012 season.
The Southland TV network will air regional telecasts of the Bearkats' games at Central Arkansas Sept. 22, at Reliant Stadium in Houston versus SFA Oct. 6 and at Lamar Oct. 27. KHOU 11.2 in Houston will feature SHSU's contest with Texas Southern at CBBVA Compass Stadium (home of the Houston Dynamo) Sept. 27.
Seven Sam Houston State football games (including all four of the Bearkats' NCAA Division I playoff contests) were televised during the Kats' 2011 Southland Conference championship season.
The 2011 Bearkats rolled to a 14-1 record, reaching the NCAA Division I national championship game in Frisco, Texas.
With 50 lettermen including 19 starters returning for the 2012 season, Sam Houston has been picked as the favorite to repeat as Southland Conference champions. The Bearkats are ranked No. 1 in the Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) preseason national poll.
The Sam Houston State University Alumni Association will sponsor a charter bus the SHSU vs. Baylor game. The bus will depart the Chemistry and Forensic Science Building parking lot (corner of Sam Houston Avenue and Bowers Drive) at 1:30 p.m. and return immediately following the game.
In addition, the Alumni Association is hosting a pre-game tailgate outside of Floyd Casey Stadium (3000 Dutton - behind the HEB on Valley Mills). Fajitas along with a beverage ticket will be provided.
Reservations for both the charter bus and the pre-game reception are requested by September 12, 2012. For more information, or to reserve your bus seat and admission to the pre-game tailgate party, call the Office of Alumni Relations at (936) 294-1841 or go online to http://alumni.shsu.edu .
Game tickets can be purchased by contacting the SHSU Athletic Ticket Office at (936) 294-1729. The Bearkat ticket office is located in the Ron Mafrige Field House in the south end zone of Bowers Stadium. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
