What does everybody's radio coverage look like? NDSU just added a few more stations and it made me wonder.

North Dakota Station list

Fargo – KFGO – 790 AM (simulcast on KRWK 101.9 FM)

Bismarck – KFYR – 550 AM or ESPN – 710 AM

Minot – KHRT – 1320 AM

Jamestown – KSJB – 600 AM

Williston – KEYZ – 660 AM

Devils Lake – KDVL – 102.5 FM

Harvey – KHND – 1470 AM

Rugby – KZZJ – 1450 AM

Bowman – KPOK – 1340 AM

Grafton – KAUJ – 100.9 FM

Dickinson – KLTC – 1460 AM

Minnesota Station list

Detroit Lakes – KRCQ – 102.3 FM

Minneapolis/St. Paul – WLKX 95.9 FM (North) / KBGY 107.5 FM (South)

Albany – KDDG 105.5 FM

Fergus Falls – KZCR – 103.3 FM

Glenwood - KMGK – 107.1 FM

Fosston – KKCQ – 96.7 FM

Which at low power (Night time) is represented geographically like this. Its roughly a 500-600 mile circle.

Hammersmith from bisonville made the map and he will be making a map that includes daytime coverage which will be a larger area.

Two thoughts:

1) I am VERY pleased that Minneapolis' NDSU game coverage has switched to FM format, even though it's split between two stations, north metro/south metro. If I'm working this fall and if the unfortunate circumstance of me having to work during a game happens, I am totally hooked up.

2) I was on the Western Illinois message board recently just to see what other conference opponents are talking about, and they were talking about their radio coverage for Leatherneck FB games. Apparently NDSU is LIGHT YEARS ahead of schools like WIU (and probably the rest of the MVFC), because the only station that covers WIU FB games is their local university radio station that apparently is low-wattage and has a radius of like 5 miles. To think that Dive 95.9 FM in Fargo is a hipster community radio station and it even is more powerful than WIU's station.

Also, it would be nice to add a Bemidji station.

Both can be streamed live I believe...WTAG broadcasts to most of CMass, parts of RI, CT, NH and VT. WCHC has about a 20 mile radius. Yours truly was the play by play guy at WCHC in 1986 and 1987. (That's why I teach/coach now : ) )

WVUD 91.3 FM.......U OF D STATION
WDSD 94.7 FM.......DOVER,DE.

For the record WDSD is a 50,000 watt fm station with the broadcasting towers in Dover (FEC rules) and broadcast stations in North Wilmington. It covers the entire state although those UD fans who live in Pa. whine that they can't get good coverage. Of course those whiners could always go on the website.

WVUD is a nice student run operation with limited broadcast capability but you can also do some internet listening.

Line of sight limitations on fm broadcast in about 90 miles. The Dover Broadcast capabilities allow any Delaware resident the ability to listen to Delaware Games. Oh, for the days of Bob Kelley.

Appalachian State's top radio affiliate is WKBC 97.3 FM. It is 100,000 Watts broadcasting off the top of the Brushy Mountains. It reaches 5 states according to the FCC website: NC, SC, VA, TN, WV and over 50 NC counties (which is half the state).

I would think at least their campus radio (if they have that) would broadcast it. Or do they only broadcast basketball.

There is a campus "station" that does home games but it's Internet only. I figured the thread referred to AM/FM properties only.

That's actually a lot more extensive than I originally thought. Probably it's the Illinois MVFC teams that have the smaller radio networks...

I beleive ours is tied together with our basketball coverage as well. We have a tv network as well - football is only shown in Springfield cable though while basketball is over the air on the top station in the Springfield market and also shown on cable in Kansas City and St. Louis. More than likely you will find where a team ranks in the state by the media coverage it gets throughout the state.

OK radio coverage, but has been a lot less of a concern the last 2-3 years. Every conference game has been carried free by Big Sky TV live on the internet, and all but 1 or at most 2 games have been televised state-wide. New ROOT sports deal for the BSC looks good for MSU. For this year every game will have a TV broadcast except the Drake game in Des Moines.

Portland State games on Freedom 970AM. Live play by play audio can be heard over the internet at www.freedom970.com

Tom Hewitt handles the play by play with our SID Mike Lund providing commentary.

Last two seasons, Burton had appeared the Monday after games on the big sports talk station in Portland, 750AM The Game as a guest. I am currently unsure if that will happen this year.
