Hope the polls underrate App by season's end, but the Coach's Poll is about how I would rank them preseason. I know GaSo, App and UTC are going to all be pretty tough to move the ball against if healthy.

I'm not too worried about the Chatty defense. We're lacking a TE with hands and the O-line is questionable, but now we actually have an offensive play caller that can tell his *** from a hole in the ground. The new staff at UTC will not be adequately prepared for a Satterfield offense that early in the season. They'll only have one conference game on which to watch film at that point in the season.

Scott Satterfield is overqualified to be an FCS O Coordinator. Before he ends up a head coach for an FBS App State, he's going to once again have a field day with the SoCon D Coordinators.

GaSo is a totally different animal. There's actually an atmosphere in Stinkboro that will compliment a tough defense, unlike chatty. I'll bet we go 1-1 against GaSo/UTC, taking the L to the Stink again.

The new O-line and RB coaches are really going to be in over their heads against the great Satterfield lol. The only new coach on defense is the safeties coach. Be serious. Chattanooga was tops in most categories and it wasn't just the App State game that put them there.

We have a young defensive backfield, if they dont grow up quick, we may get in a hole early in the season, not very worried about the d front.Right now, we dont even know who our Quarterback is! By the way, you better worry about the Chatty Quarterback. He's quick. I dont think he played against App last year did he?

I really can't stand coaches or media who simply look at last years results and play it safe without much analysis and simply shift a spot or two. Some glaring miscalculations. No doubt Eagles will do well, probably Wofford also. but my Cid Dogs too low. App St and Chatt overrated. Middle of pack will be dog fight but votes are unrealistic. Wofford, App, Chatt, Furman, Cit all within 1-2 games. Samford a little off, Elon and WC in the cellar.

If UTC is to break through, they have to do it this year. They got the defense to give them a chance every game. They got GSU and ASU at home. It's all on the QB play.

They will have about 19 starters back again. They are a Sophomore and junior laden team. Last year outside of 5 or 6 really solid seniors they were a Freshman and Sophomore laden team...Let's look at Chattanooga's likely starting rotation to debunk this myth..

Coleman played the virtually the entire game. Several of the UTC fans who joined our tailgate were saying they believed Coleman's backup was more versatile than Coleman and was really the better QB. Certainly, Coleman stood in there and took a beating last year; gotta give him credit for toughness.

He did say that this is the year because along with a strong defense, they have ASU/GSU at home. They've got to travel to Boone and Statesboro in 2014 which are tough places to win. If they're going to step up and be the dominant team we've been hearing about this offseason and last, this is their best shot.

He threw for 270 yards, albeit on a lot of attempts. The first int was not his fault and the 2nd was desperation. He is fighting for the backup QB position on the Green Bay Packers.

So if they do win the SOCON this year and return 19 starters next year, they won't be the favorite because they have to go to Boone and Statesboro? Lol.

If they win the conference this year, I'm sure they would be picked as the favorite in 2013. That doesn't mean the road to a championship won't be a lot tougher when they have to travel to the two toughest venues in the conference.

Whatever their chances are this year, they will be higher in 2013. Where the games are played means next to nothing. As a amatter of fact Chattanooga has probably played better on the road than they have at home. Maybe it cancels that whole theory out. Year 2 in the offense next year with 10 starters back will in itself override any scheduling advantages/disadvantages.

There you have it, Chatty plays better on the road, and the numbers support it. 3-3 on the road, 2-3 at home.

App and GaSo will beat Chatty at home this year, and next year when Chattown has App and GSU exactly where he wants them, in KBS and Paulson, that will be Chatty's year.

17-3 over 20 seasons is impressive regardless of the opponent. If there's a more one sided series between two teams that play every year, I would like to see it.

Most of the games really have not even been close. Over that time Furman has won by an average of two touchdowns per game.

My view is that if UTC doesn't make the playoffs, they will get that label of being under-achievers and that will effect morale.

Very much so... this is their year. No excuses.

But in my mind just making the playoffs isn't enough. Winning the conference with no more than one loss and making a deep (at least semi-final) playoff run is the only thing acceptable.

They've got their two biggest challengers at home and return more than anybody in the conference. The deck is stacked for them more than any time in their history.

If Jeff Monken can take a 5-6 team full of run and shoot players, install a completely new system, and make the semi-finals in consecutive years then why can't the almighty Heussman do at least the same or better?

The time for choking, excuses, and whining is over in Chattanooga. Nothing less than an outright conference title and top 4 national finish is acceptable. They've all talked the talk, now let's see them walk the walk the way App and GSU has.
