Seems as though he was rated as a 3-star by rivals and a 4-star by preps. I have read (on message boards, may be speculation) that his 4-star rating was as a WR/RB/ATH and his 3-star rating was as a QB. Either way, his offers coming out of school were to Va Tech, Florida, Georgia, and a few other major BCS schools, and last second he dropped his verbal to Va Tech and committed to Vandy to play QB (assuming that's where he wants to play position-wise). He will be a r-Fr this year, and depending on whether Thorpe gets his 6th year or not, could be in the fold to start by 2014 or 2015, or at least compete with Ian Fisher (crazy-talented 3-star 6'6 250 QB from Md)

Thourogood chose Vandy over Tech when the Tech assistant that recruited him moved to Vandy ... but he was hampered by injury all year and ended up on the depth chart behind two other freshmen and didn't want to move to RB.

FWIW, Rodney Landers was recruited by many BCS schools as a 3-star athlete but chose JMU because we told him he would play QB. Turned out well for us ... this could be a similar situation.
