Richard Olin Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks (Northern Iowa 1967)

Richard Olin makes the jump from the high school ranks to join the Lumberjack coaching staff. Olin was hired in January as the offensive coordinator, and will coach the SFA quarterbacks. Olin takes over for an offense that has been among the nation's leaders each of the past three seasons and led the country in passing in 2009 and 2010.

One of the most successful prep head coaches in the state of Texas, Olin spent 18 seasons at Baytown Lee High School. During his 18 seasons at Baytown Lee, Olin coached the Ganders to 11 state playoff appearances, advancing to the area round of the playoffs six times. The Ganders recorded six district titles, including three undefeated seasons.

The eight-time district coach of the year has produced some of the top young quarterbacks from the state of Texas. During his time in the high school ranks he has coached nine different quarterbacks who have played at the NCAA Division I level including Clint Stoerner (Arkansas), Ell Roberson (Kansas State), Drew Tate (Iowa), Brian Johnson (Utah) and 2010 Walter Payton Award winner Jeremy Moses.

The most decorated football player in program history, Moses was key in helping turn SFA from a conference also-ran into a national power. He guided the 'Jacks to back-to-back conference titles, consecutive top-10 national rankings and to the 2009 and 2010 NCAA playoffs. Moses was named to five different All-America teams during his senior year, and left SFA as the Southland Conference's all-time leader in completions, passing yards, yards of total offense and touchdown passes. His 1,184 completions set an NCAA FCS record.

A head coach for Texas in the 2000 Texas-California All-Star game, Olin had 125 athletes receive scholarships to play football.

Olin graduated from Northern Iowa following his playing career for the Panthers. He was inducted into the UNI Athletics Hall of Fame in September 2010, on the night that Moses led the Lumberjacks to a 22-20 victory over the nationally ranked Panthers.
