The first 8 trades in the draft sent the whole order bonkers...so many FCS players got bumped way down IMO.

The Minnesota Vikings have extended rookie mini-camp invitations to three former UND football players, although two of those athletes haven’t been with the Sioux since 2010.
Defensive back Dominique Hawkins, linebacker Ross Cochran and running back Josh Murray will be among the approximately 60 players attending the Vikings’ rookie mini-camp Thursday through Sunday at Winter Park in Eden Prairie, Minn.

I thought Steed was supposed to he a high prospect.

At one time he was. He didn't run well at the combine but bettered it considerably at FU pro day. I heard someone say there were some injury concerns at the last minute. That was new to me. There were also a ton of DB's available and I heard on ESPN in the later rounds that teams were reluctant to use a draft pick on a DB because they could pick up one just as good as a FA. He'll get his shot anyway.

I am really surprised Lum and Groome still aren't signed.

Not really. Bo Levi Mitchell didn't get signed either. Other great FCS QB's didn't get much if any time from the NFL teams like Rickey Santos who didn't stay in the NFL that long. I still have Santos nightmares. Even Pat Devlin, who I thought could be a decent NFL QB in 3 to 5 years, will be the odd man out in Miami. He may never get resigned. Predicting who can be a NFL QB is almost impossible at our level. Lum was good though!

Agreed, even the successful NFL qb's from FCS are BCS transfers (i.e. Flacco). We often talk about the difference in speed, size, etc just from FCS to BCS...so you can imagine how difficult a jump would be for a FCS qb to go directly to the NFL level. it is often times a hard transition for the big time BCS QB's (leinart, clausen, etc.) so it's understandable if NFL teams view FCS QB's as a huge gamble.

I don't think Pat will be the odd man out...I think he's headed back to the Practice Squad. The Dolphins aren't keeping both Moore and Garrard. One of those guys is going to be the starter (for the time being) and one will be gone. Tanninghill is their future, but like the Redskins, the Dolphins are gonna want to groom a young, inexpensive QB that could either end up a backup or trade bait.

I see Lum playing in Europe.

The three former Dayton players playing there currently seem to be having a blast! One is in Italy, (Devon Langhorst), one is in Sweden, (James Vercammen), and one is in Switzerland, (Steve Valentino). Deven was a DE at Dayton but I think he is playing LB and some TE in Italy. He is having a blast playing on the offense on occasion. Steve is a WR/KR but he is also playing a fair amount of QB. Certainly not something he would get a chance to do in the NFL at 5' 10", 176 lb or so.... James is a LB and just like at Dayton a terror on the field. His teammates and the fans love his outstanding play. It has been great following all three and in Steve's case one of our fans actually got the Swiss press to write an article on Steve for UDPRIDE. I think this is an option that will gain momentum for many former FCS players. You do not get rich, but what a great opportunity for a young, single football player....
