Cal Poly signed Folsom QB Tanner Trosin (6'1" 175). As a senior in 2011 Tanner threw for 5,185 yards and 49 TDs and rushed for 1,179 yards and 20 TDs. The 5,185 yards passing is a California State record. His total yardage of 6,364 is also a state record.

Tanner started as a Safety in 2010 as a Jr on Folsom's DII State Championship team and backed up Maxpreps Player of the Year Dano Graves at QB. He wasn't heavily recruited because he only started at QB for one year and he does not have the size most FBS schools want.

Servite captured the CIF-SS Pac 5 title in 2010 and lost to De La Salle in the state playoffs, finishing 14-1, while the 2011 squad reached the second round of the CIF-SS Pac 5 playoffs en route to a 10-2 mark. Williams joins former Servite players Chris Nicholls, Karlton Dennis and Bijon Samoodi on the Mustang roster. Williams was a first-team All-Trinity League offensive lineman in 2011 and earned second-team all-league honors in 2010.

In January, Cal Poly announced the signing of College of San Mateo defensive lineman Barrett Wangara during the Midyear JC Transfer period for football.

Cal Poly's recruiting under coach Walsh has been exceptional. I can't wait to see what this team is able to do in the Big Sky over the next few years.

I expect the offense to be a better version of last year with Andre Broadous at QB. I think you will see Cal Poly passing quite a bit more than in past years.

This team is getting better again

I'm looking forward to my first year as a (local) Mustang fan!

While I've just joined the staff of the local High School football team, I trust that I'll be free to make the 15 minute drive to Spanos Stadium to catch all of the Cal Poly home games.

Nice pickup on the QB...in fact nice recruiting class altogether. Looks like us GWFC teams are going to make some noise in the Big Sky. Good luck this season!

Portland State and Cal Poly both got better...
These next few seasons we might see a shift in power (in the top 1/3 of the Big Sky) away from Eastern Washington, Weber State & Montana State

I've been at my current HS for nearly 20 years (staff, not student LOL) and 6-1 175 appears to be the classic HS body which I expect will put on close to 20 lbs by next season. At 6-1 195+, with his passing and running abilities, I'm very excited about CP's QB status the next four years.

You need a QB with this, it gives the QB an option whether to scramble for yards instead of just throwing the ball away.

PM me before next year and I get you into the Stampede B-B-Q before the game. Tri-tip and all the beer you can drink in 3 hours. Tons of fun.

Which school are you coaching at?

Back at you Darell. I am really looking forward to seeing what all four of the GWFC teams do in the Big Sky next year and in the future. I think all four are going to open some eyes to just how good the GWFC was.
