I have a feeling Wofford will win this weekend, but this is an interesting stat that was worth sharing...

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina has put a team in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs every year since 1998. But unless Wofford or Furman win tough games this weekend, the state may be shut out of the postseason.

The committee that chooses FCS playoff teams has a long tradition of only picking teams that have seven Division I wins. After losing to Elon last week, Furman will need to beat Florida from the Southeastern Conference to make that magic mark, while Wofford will have to knock off Chattanooga.

Coastal Carolina and South Carolina State can also reach seven wins with a victory, but their schedules appear too weak to be considered for an at-large postseason bid.

Part of the trouble for Wofford was a game in October against Virginia Wise. The reason the Terriers scheduled the Division II team is they have trouble getting FCS opponents to play them because they are a winning team, Ayers said

What a SoCon team has trouble finding quality FCS opponents OOC? Who knew?

All these threads will be null and void if wofford wins today

edit: as of 3:08 EST that doesn't seem likely :(

Doesn't look like it. Congrats Wofford.
