This wouldn't make me not worry.

After a promising 6-5 season in 2004, UMass coach Don Brown has a strong core of players returning for 2005. He also has six transfers among 22 newcomers who will take part in spring practice, which begins tomorrow

22 newcomers mean incoming freshman for next year. We only had 3 sr starters but had a few srs who sat the bench. I do believe there were 10 total srs and 3 kids who left the program. Last year Brown was also introduced after signing period so he didnt have a great class. A couple players of the 22 were also grey shirts who didnt start till this spring semester. Its average for I-AA ball.

That's not average, that's alot. Puts UMass up there with UNI and a few others who brought in more than a couple of transfers. W&M had one last year and none this year.

A bump in transfers after a regime change is not too unusual - you'll get a better feel for it in a few years and judging how many transfers come in after the initial year or two. Not coming in until after the signing period does change the equation a bit.

Although not tremendously out of line, I thought it was a little more than avg that time of yr.
