QB Richie Williams, App State Profile

Scouting Notes: Williams looked impressive in some aspects and showed potential in others since his final regular season game and the spring game… not a fluid arm motion but shows the potential to be tweaked to an NFL prototype style… does not throw off his back foot… tends to try and make too much happen with his feet instead of throwing the ball away… has the frame to add 10-15lbs and still keep his style of game… will never be 230lbs but could be a solid 210-215… inconsistent in throws as he will throw on the money deep and then overthrow the next play on a deep throw… very raw so he shows the ability to peak after a few years of NFL training… hard worker and team leader… very lanky… very mobile player who is dangerous when in the open field… skinny legs and arms… not soft but cut up and muscular… shows the potential to be a WR or QB depending on how you look at him… solid late 7th round to PFA type.

2005: Walter Payton Award candidate… Top returning passer in the SoCon... Hurts opposing defenses with his feet and arm… very mobile… team captain and leader.

Hopefully the Spring game was absolutely no indication of his readiness for this year, otherwise Elsner showed him up.
