WE DO return Norman our starting Tackle and Petit our starting OG. Hundley started a few games for injured Petit so I assume he will start now. also a few receivers especially Joshua Harris all conference. Colton Hinton 82 very fast receiver. Ben Ferguson recvr. RB so far Grant Robinson who looked good as big and shifty. J Smith had really really good looking talent but got hurt bad at RB. not sure his status. Also Myion Hicks at RB. Brock Chappell good looking TE scored vs USC.

They will get back Micah Nelson (DE that was pre-season all conference) and Mateo Sudipo (Safety who's injury moved Keaton to play more Safety rather than CB) who both missed 2023 due to injury but who would have both been starters

For the Chattanooga Mocs

On defense - we're losing Kam Brown - an All American conrner - he's the only starter on the backend, but we're losing some other guys that played quite a bit - safety Clay Fields III, safety - Romeo Wykle, and corner Telly Plummer - all of those to graduation and exhaustion of eligibility. In the middle we're losing Bo Spearman who's entered the portal - he started early in the year but lost his starting job - he's a talented guy though. Yes, we're losing Jay Person on the edge - he's graduated and has exhausted his eligibility. We're also losing Ben Brewton, who was a beat opposite of Jay - also to graduation. Nick Charles is in the portal - and he played some but not a lot.

On the offensive side we're losing five starters - Running back Ailym Ford and OT Griffen McDowell to graduation and TE Camdon Overton and OG Jerimiah Katt to the portal. Katt wanted to get back closer to home (Arizona) and probably wouldn't have been the starter if we hadn't lost Bryce Goodner in the summer. I'm not sure why Overton went to the portal - he was our top pass catching TE (though we have a freshman TE the coaches really like). And of course we lost Jamoi Mays to the portal as well as backup receiver Tyler Smith.

We also lost our punter (and kicker the second half of the year - Clayton Crile, and our long snapper to graduation.

I'm sure I forgot something - but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

thank goodness Person is gone. The difference when we played vs him in reg season and without him playoffs was noticeable. Whew. Lol. I’ll try to update my initial post

Not at all sure I am right on all of this, but I believe that Hiers and Smith are both out of eligibility. As for Jay Stanton, he is in the Portal with one year left. I am uncertain about Noah Martin. He was never red-shirted and played first in 2021 (spring and fall), but I have not seen his notice of Portal and he is listed as a 2023 Senior. Some other of our very good players have opted for the Portal primarily LB Josiah Cotton, DE Kobe Stewart, and DB Kourtlan Marsh.

VMI had a back up, first year off. tackle go in the portal, picked up by Maine. only underclassman who has left, so far. 12 seniors are in portal (six are four year letter winners), two (a DB and WR) will come back for ninth semester, and graduate next December.

When I look at this list, I know my Mocs team is going to be OK... Yes, losing some serious talent in Ford, Brewton and Pearson...but the depth behind those guys is DANG GOOD!!! Next man up!!! Looking at Furple...Dang!!! That has to hurt,Y'all are losing STUDS. Huff, Blackshear, Chizik, Cook, Brinson, Roberto...I can say, I have no Idea what your 2s look like, but for your sake, I hope they are good...cause that is a frickin BOATLOAD of talent.

Looking at the SoCon as a whole, there is a ton of Studs graduating or hitting the portal, but that also opens doors for the next group of DUDES to go be DUDES!!!!

Discussing portal....WCU is my biggest loser....and probably ETSUx is the big winner....

WCU might get hit the hardest by the portal...Bell promised quite a bit that he didn't deliver. Call me whatever you want, but not making the playoffs (while they were plenty good enough) may be the nail in the Bell coffin!!!

ETSUx has a new coach and a guy that has a real following amongst some players....I expect TL will have a crew of core talent follow him from GWU...and for that they may be the SoCon winners of the portal this year!!!
