    FCS Bowl - Saturday 12/9 @ 1:30 PM - Daytona, FL

Just thought this might interest some here. https://www.fcsbowl.com/

It interests FUBeAR because both Mercer’s Punter & Placekicker are playing (on opposite Teams) & they both had outstanding Seasons / Careers. For example, Mercer was #1 in FCS in Net Punting (the Punting Stat that REALLY matters) & their Punter was 8th in FCS in Punting Average. Of course, he didn’t make the Coaches OR Media 1st OR 2nd Team All-SoCon Teams...but, anyway...

Rosters below - only showing FCS Players here.
There are many other non-FCS Players on the full rosters. No FBS Players.

Oh, didn't you see though..."Eastern Illinois State University"...apparently EIU is now part of the Illinois State system...so maybe that's the MVFC representation. /s

WTF one player from the "west" (Idaho State DB Whittier)

    Is this by invite?

Maybe there will be another game, but on the West Coast?

Lol is this another HBCU "classic"?

This the one where players have to pay to play?

    Re: FCS Bowl - Saturday 12/9 @ 1:30 PM - Daytona, FL

Yep - they have to pay $595 to play & pay their own way - travel, hotel, etc.

Probably why most kids are from the SE/South or NE (snow bunnies, we call ‘em). So, yeah all that sucks and the game won’t be very polished...like ALL Aall-Star games aren’t.

But...here’s the upsides for the Players

    1) Get to play in 1 more Football game - that’s not nothing. If you played & loved the game, I don’t care how old you are today, your a$$ wishes you could play in just 1 more game...in your younger body.

    2) I see a lot of them popping up gofundme’s to finance their Holidays trip to FL. I wish somebody would paid for my college beach trips, including bail money. They are past NCAA restrictions, so, it’s all good...and if they get ‘extra’ cash, they can upgrade from PBR & Natty to something a little better.

    3) 84 Players in this game the past 3 or 4 years have had at least had a cup of coffee in an NFL or CFL Training Camp. Maybe, they would have had those opportunities anyway. Maybe not. If so, see #1 & #2, and #4.

    4) Bikinis vs. Parkas for a week

If this (and gofundme) were around when I finished playing ball, I’d a darn-sure did it! Wish I could NOW!

Why (it seems) do y’all want to ‘knock’ this? Maybe you aren’t; just kinda seems that you are.

I don't think most people were knocking the game itself, just the fact that representation seemed to be very "regional", which seemed odd for a postseason "seniors-type" game.
Now that you explained/reminded people of the setup, it makes sense that you don't have many players from further away. If you can drive or take an easy flight, it's not as big of a deal, but trying to get to Daytona from places like Brookings, SD, Cedar City, UT, or Bozeman, MT...not so easy (or cheap) usually.

Just realized that 12/9 is Sunday.

My apologies for screwing up the thread title.

There was a play to pay bowl last year where the guy walked with the money. No game.
It is characteristic of the unlearned that they are forever proposing something which is old, and because it has recently come to their own attention, supposing it to be new.

Opportunity is unattainable for most people because it is disguised as hard work!!
