Ranking among the longest rivalries in all College Football, the 129th meeting takes place this weekend in Williamsburg. Tribe holds a 62-61 advanatage with 5 ties.

This year's game carries added significance, marking Jimmye Laycock's last game. Laycock has been head coach at W&M since 1980 and will be going for his 250th win. W&M has made a push to bring back a number of players from the Laycock era for the game. Reports are of near 300 so far. A few of the players who may be there include Mark Kelso, BW Webb, Steve Christie, Mike Tomlin, Sean McDermott, Mike Leach, Lang Campbell, Michael Clemons and David Corley.

W&M appears to be coming into this one on an upsurge. UR is struggling. Still, this one can go either way.

Fans of both teams can point to some great games, very memorable meetings. For W&M, the Hail Mary TD in 1971 gave W&M a 34-33 upset win, stealing the then Southern Conference Title from UR and a berth in the Tangerine Bowl against an undefeated and nationally ranked Toledo team. Also in memory, the 28-17 upset over an 8-2 Spider team in 1985 before an overflow and still record crowd of 19,000 at Zable. The 2009 game, the last played in Richmond's City Stadium in front of a split crowd of 18,000, was probably the best match-up where both came into the game with top quality teams. UR won the game 13-10 on a walk off FG. W&M went on from there to reach the FCS semis.

2018 will have its own storyline and look forward to see how this one unfolds.
