Robbie Grimsley, who has already been a two-time all-conference safety and has a year left after this one, was Minnesota's Mr Football as a senior mainly because of his accomplishments as an RB. James Hendricks has been a great backup safety for NDSU this year and he was recruited as a QB and just moved to safety this year as a redshirt sophomore. Getting these high school offensive stars to buy into playing on the defensive side of the ball in college might be tricky in some cases but I think that's a key to building a good defense at the FCS level at least.
I think these types of moves make sense. Who better to defend than one who has been on the other end??
