Lafayette reduced their capacity by almost 1,500. used to seat around 4,000. Went from wooden bleachers to more comfortable seats.

I recall 4,000 in the place for Notre Dame back in the 80s. To say it "seated" 4,000 (including the temporary endcourt stands) leaves a bit to be desired. Even last year's "capacity" 3,200 for Lehigh and Bucknell on the wooden bleachers was horribly uncomfortable for middle aged posteriors such as mine. The new configuration is much more pleasant; it allows you to focus on the game and even get up for a Dr. Pepper or three rather than battling for position on the ol' pinewood.
GW's renovated Smith Center would be the perfect template for a Stabler renovation. If only there was the interest to justify it...

Not sure what that really has to do with anything? The majority of those are grad students. Plus, I'm don't believe GW relies on alums to attend bball games. They draw students from every corner of the world.
The two facilities are very similar in terms of design and size.
