Welcome to Paladin Platinum, A look back at some of the great moments in Furman Athletics. On October 30 1999 the Paladin football team traveled to Chapel Hill, NC and a sun washed Kenan Stadium to face a Tar Heel squad who’s defensive lineup was populated by a host of future NFL stars lead by Julius Peppers and Ryan Sims. The Paladins had their stars that day too as running back Louis Ivory ran for 177 yards and QB Justin Hill who threw for 187 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the Paladins lopsided 28-3 win over North Carolina. But it was the first Furman touchdown pass from Hill to All America Des Kitchings that set the tone and sparked the rout over the Tar Heels.Former QB Justin Hill lives and works as a banker in his home town of Greer SC. He has fond and very vivid memories of those Paladin Platinum moments.
