Re: Richmond Seriously Considering Leaving CAA?

Those six don't have a hard enrollment cap enforced by city authorities. As such, adding a scholarship is not a marginal change when the alternative is the loss of a student paying tuition.

Re: Richmond Seriously Considering Leaving CAA?

Lack of administrative support is false. Without administrative support, Georgetown football would have gone the way of football at Seton Hall or Xavier.

The short answer to a long question is...

Re: Richmond Seriously Considering Leaving CAA?

No disdain, but some frustration that nothing ever changes with these two schools.

    Re: Preseason 2024 Rankings

PL standings every year pass between the same five schools.

    Championships since 2001:
    Lehigh 7
    Colgate 7
    Holy Cross: 6
    Lafayette 5
    Fordham 4

    Bucknell 0

Re: Richmond Seriously Considering Leaving CAA?

Proximity is relative. It's 300 miles from Philadelphia to Worcester. Still, and this was a question I asked elsewhere, is...why?

If a school could win a national title in the CAA, regularly make...

Re: Richmond Seriously Considering Leaving CAA?

Villanova has played Holy Cross twice since, what, 1980? It hasn't scheduled Georgetown since 1950.

    Re: 2027 Schedules

Holy Cross never had a real rivalry with Georgetown: they played just seven times from 1913 to 1950.

Were it not for the PL, I don't think Holy Cross would be interested in playing Georgetown.

    Re: 2027 Schedules

It was a rhetorical question. There are some HC fans who would prefer local opponents over relatively distant programs that are not competitive in the current PL model. There is likely a smaller...
  11. Re: Which ex-FCS program made the biggest mistake by moving up or dropping the progra

You don't even have to be a big state school. For these schools, it takes three things:

    1. Add 22 scholarships;
    2. Secure state appropriations and student fees to support travel; and
    3. Booster...

    Re: 2027 Schedules

Not arguing it, but the PL can adjust the schedules anyway they see fit.
  13. Re: Which ex-FCS program made the biggest mistake by moving up or dropping the progra

Only because NCAA ice hockey is rarely seen south of Interstate 70.
  14. Re: Which ex-FCS program made the biggest mistake by moving up or dropping the progra

The Wheatshockers would be an AAC football program today had they stayed.

    Re: 2024 Schedules

It takes two to schedule and when you've won just 30 games in 10 seasons Rob Sgarlata isn't looking to take a game at Northern Iowa and have to explain a 60-0 loss to those in the University largely...

Re: Hampton fires HC Robert Prunty

With a unexpected dismissal, a terse quote that "he is no longer with" Hampton and a 404 error on his web page bio, this isn't a mutual agreement to move on.

    Re: Patriot League Offseason Thread

If HC is the "most inexperienced", it's not by much. Georgetown's QB depth chart:

Danny Lauter: Two seasons, one game played
Jordan Holmes: One season, no games
    Jacob Holtschlag: One season, no...

That's fair. Troxell is in great shape, Sgarlata too but for different reasons, and everyone else is under some expectation to improve in 2024.

There's no hot seat in Patriot Land:

    Everyone Is Happy: Troxell, Dakosty
    New: Curran
    Relatively New: Cahill
    No Issues Yet: Conlin
    Fit For Purpose: Sgarlata, Cecchini
