    Re: Gardner-Webb at Coastal Carolina

Agreed '94. If somebody has a beef with the HC or the direction of the football program, make some phone calls. No need to make a scene at the game. That does nobody any good. It's disrespectful IMO

Re: Gardner-Webb vs Mars Hill 58-14

Didn't get a chance to come over, but that margin was not expected. I expected maybe four TDs, which would have been a very solid margin against a D2 that some have touted as a potential playoff team...

Re: Mars Hill at Gardner-Webb Preview

Agreed Grid, on both accounts. Nobody loves G-W football more than MR. And I sure hope the 'Dogs are good enough to put MHC away early. That game in 2000 was a stinger.

I won't make it to the game...

Re: Moratorium News - $1M Application to Div I

Gardner-Webb's first year up was 2000, with 2002 its first year in the Big South and full I-AA/FCS membership in football. There used to be only a two-year wait. Not it's four.

    G-W

Any of you guys on here make it out to any of Gardner-Webb's practices yet? I haven't, so how do they look so far? Hopefully bigger, stronger and faster where they need it. Happy Football folks!
  6. Re: Western Carolina VS Gardner-Webb Part-2 The Real Lowdown!

Last time I checked, G-W is 1-1 against the mighty Catamounts since moving to FCS/I-AA. The win in 2004 was by a GWU team that limped to a 5-6 record.

I don't honestly know how this year's game up...
  7. Re: Western Carolina vs Gardner-Webb, Sept 12th

Agreed on Burch and Bonner. Great people in general, but also the right people in charge. Very pleased that a school the size of Gardner-Webb can have two men of their quality leading the way.

    As...

Johnston had a good rookie year man. Played a ton more than they expected in KC as a 7th round rookie. He's got a bright future.

    Re: Gardner-Webb recruiting

Just got an email. Gardner-Webb signed three more today.

QB Chandler Browning, 6'3, 225 from Raleigh Broughton
OL Xavier Armstrong, 6'1, 305 from Reedley JC
OL Xavier Montage, 6'2, 255 from...

britt, the safety I think you are thinking about is Chris James from Sandy Creek down in Atlanta. Good player from what I saw his freshman year on special teams. Pretty good sized safety. He...

and this is off subject, not recruit related, but I did hear from a family friend there at G-W that their receiver, Dobson Collins, who finished up last year, was really good at that Texas Nation...

    Re: Gardner-Webb recruiting

Gentlemen. Looking at the Charlotte Observer last night, I did notice that G-W has signed another D Lineman. Hasn't been added to the official site yet, so they may be waiting on paperwork still.

    Re: Gardner-Webb recruiting

I did hear they were hopeful of signing a very good quarterback, but didn't get a name or where he might be from.

Knowing what I know as far as needs, I would guess one more DL, maybe an...

Considering the low number of scholarships that came available with graduation (G-W has most of its team coming back for 2009), this is a tremendous class. Talking with my guy on campus this morning,...

    Re: Gardner-Webb recruiting

They (G-W) normally do a big release once everyone faxes in their NLIs. At least that's how it's been in the past. Normally mid afternoon to late afternoon.

Doolittle is a good quarterback, and will be the starter again in 2009. Very experienced and saavy. The problems he does have come back to suspect OL play from the games I've seen. I think that will...

    Re: Gardner-Webb recruiting

Roundtree's a big pickup. Will try him at safety I bet. 6-1, 190 lbs and 4.5 in the 40 are solid measurables.

According to some of my pals, G-W also has a big DL transferring in that was a 3-4...

As of Friday, from what I've heard this afternoon, GWU will sign between 12-15 players on Wednesday. Small class, but filled with some very good quality young guys. No additional names yet though.

Not yet, but there seems to be some growing excitement over there about next year and beyond. Should be a lot deeper up front in 2009, which helps.

    Re: Gardner-Webb recruiting

From what I had heard a few weeks ago, Harris was considered one of the most important recruits for the Class of 2009 at GW. A major need filled by a great student and super player by all accounts.
