Agreed. Saint Francis - Georgetown would be a nice series.

Agreed. Saint Francis - Georgetown would be a nice series.
Call the AD at Central Connecticut. I'm confident they would agree to a home/home deal with Georgetown on 2 simple conditions.
1) Have to find matching open dates on the calendar acceptable to...

With the addition of Mercyhurst, the Northeast Conference will have 8 football members (6 core + 2 associates) for 2024.
NEC Football:
1. Central Connecticut
2. Long Island
3. Mercyhurst

Great article. How is SFU doing over that same period?
Any insight on Mercyhurst and Gannon?
Central Connecticut - 2027:
Sep. 11 at Holy Cross (Patriot)
Sep. 18 at Buffalo (MAC)
Oct. 16 vs. Dartmouth (Ivy)
I think they are done with New England this round and will take 2 PA schools instead. Since 1997, 6 of the 9 previous expansion teams have come from New England. The last 2 have not.
*CCSU (1997)...
The Northeast Conference will have 7 football members (5 core + 2 associates) for 2024. I expect the league will announce 2 or 3 new members this Spring.
NEC Football:
1. Central Connecticut

They are the only program reasonably capable and just crazy enough to consider it.
Just don't see any way a small private school would ever consider it, but only Holy Cross could probably attempt...
They wanted out of the NEC for all sports and are willing to leave football on the outside. The move to the MAAC was an upgrade for most every team, but football. That was a trade the AD was willing...
Maybe not who you who want them to schedule - but this is exactly the games that Georgetown can schedule, if they wanted:
NEC teams (SFU, Wagner, Stonehill)
Indys (SHU and MC)
MEAC teams...
Agree it's not a very attractive FCS schedule and it will not enhance recruiting, but it fits their current profile and predicament.
- They found 5 hope games, just 1 D-II opponent.
- 6 are...
Delaware State, D-II St. Anselm's, and Georgetown added to SHU 2024 schedule.

Yep. I see this as the only realistic option for the PL - hope the CAA splits and try to bring the Main Line on board.
'Nova is tied to the Big East and if CAA Football were to splinter into a...
Updated 2024 schedules. Each school has 8 known games, plus they will likely play each other (once or twice) for a total of 9 (or 10) games so far.
Shared open dates: 9/14 and 11/16
Sacred...
Agreed. I wouldn't think either school has a realistic shot at PL football, but to pick Merrimack over SHU would be a statement.
My feeling is this is just wishful thinking from 2 guys on a...
I don't know about Wagner. They probably have the highest regarded academic profile of the remaining NEC members, but I doubt the PL would consider them for anything at all.
Also, not that I think...
Honestly, how much of that is they can't find D-I teams willing to go to Loretto? SFU (and Duquesne) have a hard time getting FCS teams to agree to home/home deals. SFU is the location and DUQ is the...
Delaware State and Morgan State had an invite out (to the NEC) and did not take it - why?
Howard had invited to the CAA and NEC and stayed out. I think they are holding this group together and...
If you would only bring basketball back!
There will be a total of just 5 D-I Independent football programs in 2024 and here are a few interesting notes:
- 4 are located in CT and MA (UConn, UMass, MC and SHU)
- 3 are Catholic...
Just 3 NEC teams have scheduled non-D I opponents (DUQ, RMU 2x, and WAG)
3 NEc schools have 2nd BYE week and may schedule a 12th game - DUQ, SFU, STO.
Every NEC team except Stonehill will play at least 1 FBS opponent.
4 NEC teams will play 2 FBS games next season - CCSU, DUQ, SFU, and WAG
Sacred Heart will play 5 NEC schools as non-conf games (CCSU, DUQ, LIU, SFU, and STO) + likely Merrimack.
Merrimack will play just 2 NEC teams (RMU and STO) + likely SHU.
