  1. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

JMU has over double the undergrad population that Maine does.
  2. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

Good grief.....what are you guys so bent out of shape over?

    UNH - In-State tuition: $19,112 Out-of-State: $38,882

    Maine - In-State tuition: $12,606. Out-of-State: $35,346

    So you guys are...
  3. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

Glad we can agree on something.....have fun with your new mates Kennesaw and Jacksonville State!
  4. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

I don't give a fly F about Bernie Madoff or your half baked tangent.

Some schools finance their athletic department with student fees....some don't. Deal with it.
  5. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

When a bill is broken down.....you see where your money is going. I would think you being a blue blood Delaware guy that you would understand that...no?

Not sure why you dunces don't get that...
  6. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

So JMU's $5,662 student fee ($2,362 to athletics) is just fuzzy accounting?
  7. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

You are incorrect. Also.....ask the students if there is a difference in their bills.
  8. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

Maine does not charge a "student fee" to support its collegiate athletic program.....that's a fact. As a public university it absolutely receives funds from the State of Maine.

    The original post...
  9. Re: FCS programs are among the least subsidized in all of Division I

    Interesting to compare CAA schools.....

    Student Fee Subsidies:

    Towson - $17,872,941
    William & Mary - $15,805,578
    UNH - $13,315,230
    Stony Brook - $9,718,977
    NC A&T - $9,479,012
    Albany -...

    Re: Delaware to CUSA

So could they do it or not? The only barrier I see is ponying up $5 million each.

    Re: Delaware to CUSA

It's too bad that ODU/JMU/UMass/Delaware weren't on the same page at the same time.....opportunities lost.

Had the future been known at the time.....the CAA should have attempted to go FBS as a...

    Re: Delaware to CUSA

That is incorrect. Vermont has been better than URI for 2 decades.

    Re: Delaware to CUSA

URI IS an America East program....playing in a Big East facility. AE is not a downgrade outside the strength of the top of the A-10.....and a much better fit for all other sports including travel.

Re: All FCS fans need to read this link, IMO

Yeah they could have had at least one of the AE ADs be from Albany, Bryant, UNH or Maine.

And if that happens.....America East makes a play for Stony Brook, Monmouth and Towson.

    Re: Delaware to CUSA

The CAA sure wasn't the place for them either. In fact right now the CAA isn't a good place for most of the football playing schools. I'm sure that Hampton and Bryant are happy though.

    Maine gets:

Carter Peevy - QB from Mercer
Mo Irefin - WR from St. Vincent (D3 All-American)
Mason Gilbert - TE from Lafayette
John Olmstead - OL from Lafayette
  21. Re: NCAA President calls for new tier of Division I where schools can pay athletes

They can steer themselves into the ground as far as I'm concerned. F the BIG and SEC!
  22. Re: NCAA President calls for new tier of Division I where schools can pay athletes

It's funny how some just don't want to play by the rules....any rules. Once you lose "the rules"....parameters that define existing lines in the sand.....it becomes anarchy and everything goes into...

Re: Sacred Heart - FCS Independent

Agreed. Hockey and football are the top 2 sports at these schools. Joining the MAAC does nothing for either sport. They could have grown their programs in the NEC and maybe eventually parlay their...
