I believe in second chances. But this guy sounds like a bad dude. Hope he works out, but....

My thoughts exactly. I will defer to the coaches but.....
Re: Southland Offseason Thread
Just disregard everything I said. One of the coaches sent me a message and said that he hasn't been offered and he doesn't know why he said that he did.

Might be shopping his talents around and lying about schools offering him a position to pressure other schools to pick him up. Probably figured Abilene Christian was a small enough school nobody would look into it.

This is the second time a former P5 player has claimed an offer from ACU that he did not have in the past month.

WHAT??! Now I'm beginning to wonder about your coaching staff. I know your former coach wasn't successful in your transition but this is looking kinda suspicious. xlolx

Spring Practice

HUNTSVILLE – For the Sam Houston State Bearkats, the 2017 season cannot get here soon enough. But in the meantime, the defending Southland Conference champions are getting back to work after kicking off spring drills at Bowers Stadium.
“We are really pleased with the day-to-day effort, intensity and pace of the way practice has gone,” head coach K.C. Keeler said. “It’s really been impressive. It’s been a physical first five days, which is one of the reasons we broke it up the way we broke it up. We can get a little time off for Spring Break and then get back after it.”

We haven’t been able to block P.J.,” Keeler said. “He’s been a level above where he even was last year. I think Derick Roberson and Marcus Loud have had a really strong first five days. I really like what I’ve seen from several of the transfers, including Sekou Clark and Craig Williams Jr., who I expect to both make an impact for us next year.”
Re: Southland Offseason Thread
What is this????? You are selling tickets already? WTF? Our Admins wouldn't have a FREAKIN CLUE about how to hype a program like that. Or to sell tailgate spots to people who had them last year and probably want them again. Shame. Just a shame.

Clayton Carlin new Bearkat D-Coordinator.
http://www.gobearkats.com/ViewArticl...CLID=211528590
HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State head football coach K.C. Keeler has announced the promotion of Clayton Carlin to defensive coordinator for the upcoming 2017 season.
Carlin joined the Bearkats in 2016 as defensive backs coach and replaces Brad Sherrod as the head man on defense after Sherrod accepted a position on staff at Wake Forest earlier this spring.
The position will be nothing new for Carlin as he spent four seasons at Coastal Carolina serving as defensive coordinator, prior to joining the Bearkats and has also ran defenses at Bucknell and Cornell.
“I’ve known Clayton for probably about 30 years,” head coach K.C. Keeler said. “He has worked my camps and he’s a terrific football coach and a better person. He’s got a great way with the way he coaches the kids and a very simple approach to coaching defense.”
