John Santiago is picking up right where he left off, averaged almost 8 yards per carry at #9 Washington for 140 yards, also caught one for 17 yards.
The O-line is not the same as last years, with only 2 starters back and 1 who was out with injury, something they had a lot of last season.
Should be a good one and yes SHSU will be hard to beat at home, more than likely will win, just going for the upset pick, along with HBU.
My very early preliminary take on the SLC is that The middle ranks are hardest to predict right now—- Northwestern State looked impressive last weekend. ACU is 2-0 against the betting line. HBU put up a surprising number of points against McNeese. And SFA remains an unknown. The Jacks were humbled against Miss State but who among would have done better? That’s all we know about SFA at this point.
Among the top half of the conference, SLU May overtake UCA this year and Nicholls v McNeese is a coin toss. My vote goes to the home team. Sam gets a SLC pride vote from me.

I agree with others, lot's of toss ups this week
Looks like we have a bunch of picks already so I'll continue with what I asked in the previous weeks:
1. Are there any injuries or suspensions that may affect your next game?
2. What things have impressed/depressed you about your team's play so far?
For the first question UCA doesn't have any injuries that I know about that will affect our next game AT SLU. I'm sure there are some kids dinged up after the rain game but I don't recall anyone being stretchered off the field.
Impressed:
UCA Defense held the Racers to (-3) yards total from the 9:35 mark in the 3rd quarter to the end of the game. (Previous Racer drive ended in a touchback.)
UCA allowed the Racers 56 total yards rushing.
UCA's Lester Wells caught 9 passes for 158 yards against the Racers.
Depressed:
UCA's Oline needs to give a young QB a couple more seconds.
UCA's DBs have to relearn assignments.

I actually thought the same thing. I think I was shocked that HBU would be struggling that much in a state full of Baptists and an oil town... Would the same budgetary issues be there if they were DII instead of trying to make it in DI?
[QUOTE=Outsider1;2670085]If it means anything, I have been to quite a few of HBU's basketball games, and they have a bigger pep band than they do a marching band -- which didn't march, by the way. In fact, I am not sure but there might have been more band members who stayed in the stands and did not go out on the field. I was surprised that the band didn't at least have matching T-shirts.

I was going to try and make the trip down to Houston this weekend, but don't think I will be able to. It should be an interesting game. I don't know if we will have much of a crowd there. I was really disappointed with our home opener turn out.
