Pretty sure they left Deion Harris off because he is out for the year now. No?
-
Re: STATS Preseason All-America Teams
I have a hard time believing there are 14 D-lineman better than Nate Tanguay.

That must be it. Mr. Harris was preseason 1st team corner in the Big Sky.

Yep, we saw how all your all-americans perform when confronted with something called a "defense" and and "offense". They get totally confused and shut down.

DEs generally get the nod over DTs on lists like this because they get the stats. Tanguay is doubled teamed all day.
I agree I wouldn't trade him for most of the guys on this list.

I missed the fact he got hurt. That is a huge blow to their secondary. I have updated the list.

I'm really not sold that Hall will be a NFL player. I think he will get a shot as a free agent and get in a camp but I don't think he is more than maybe a 1 year practice squad player, at best. All the teams I have spoken to gave him a camp body grade based on last year, meaning they have him as a free agent pickup who won't make it.
-
Re: STATS Preseason All-America Teams
Not a lot of love for the Defending Champs. I love it. I'm SURE Houston will use it.

I have him rated as the #2 DT in the country, behind only the guy at EWU. Both of them are going to get a shot at the next level and honestly I only have about 5 DEs ahead of him overall.

One thing they did to help his chances is bulk him up and move him inside. Even with the extra bulk, he should maintain his quickness off the ball.

You guys need to push Siran Neal more. He is considered a more highly rated NFL prospect than Jackson believe it or not. I have Jackson above him but some teams have Neal. Neal, Thomas, and the CB Hall are the only 3 players on the watch lists I have been given. I still have Jackson on my list but the scouts from the spring did not like him or McCandless.

How big was he before? He measured at 6'0 1/4, 287 pounds in the spring. That is undersized for a DT and does not really fit at DE unless he can run a 4.7 or better. That size kills him. Makes him a tweener who will have to win with speed and quickness at the next level since he lacks bulk, length, and size.

At safety, nickle, or linebacker? Neal does it all for us.

Folks should know by now I don't say what I do to cause butt hurt. I just try to speak general truth. One good thing for SHSU is Briscoe measured 6'3, 222 pounds. That is good size for the NFL. If he shows a stronger arm then he will certainly have a shot to get drafted or at least be a PFA who makes a roster. Right now he and Hall are considered free agents though.

Safety. He was 6'0, 199 pounds and is expected to run a 4.5 or low 4.6 40.

What's the problems with McCandless and Jackson?

He is listed at 310 on the current roster.

McCandless is not considered good enough. Jackson is a tweener.

What was he listed last year? He was just measured back in March or April. If he went from 287 to 310 (up 23 pounds) that can't all be good weight in that short of time at this point. Maybe in high school or early in college but by the time you are 22 or 23 you shouldn't gain 23 pounds in 3 months.

He was 280 last year. I guess we will see how it plays out this season.

Re: STATS Preseason All-America Teams
Anyone pick up on the fact that Albany has a 1st and 2nd team All American RB? I remember one good one last year but not two and certainly not All American. Anyone ever remember 2 RB's rated this high???

Yeah, Roc Thomas and Tramel Terry, Jacksonville State. Postseason 2017. :D

I always thought Tramel was overrated because I didn't think he could stay healthy and really loved football. He had a ton of talent but has underachieved and clearly was not worthy of 4 or 5 stars like he had in HS.
As for Thomas, he is the one who scouts think could get drafted from JSU. He may get a combine invite.
-
Re: STATS Preseason All-America Teams
Good thing nobody picked returning First Team All Ivy DB Mason Williams from Penn as a preseason AA.
He's leaving Penn and transferring to Duke.

TBH I haven't seen anything from Terry. He hasn't played a single snap for us. I've heard good things though.
Roc has a lot of potential. I think transferring from Auburn was a good move for him. Malzahn wasn't doing him any favors.

Pretty hard to do unless you have a run-heavy option offense, just not enough carries for more than one back to get noticed. Many were amazed how well Abdullah did for us last year but the truth is he was splitting carries for much of 2 seasons with another talented back til said back was hurt, thus allowing Khalid to shine. That same injured back (Cardon Johnson) is returning this year and is so talented that he'll probably eat into the carries of Marcus Marshall. If that happens neither may make All American but either would have a shot if they were the featured back.
-
Re: STATS Preseason All-America Teams
Actually its RB and FB. Manzo-Lewis is a FB who flexes out to a TE at times.

It's funny you all talk crap about Sam, but I bet you all would love to be have our playoff record since 2011. Only FCS team with a better one is NDSU.
