I didn't see a game thread, if there is already one started, sorry.

McNorton was just breaking away on a long likely touchdown run, but he simply dropped the ball. No one touched him. I don't think I've ever seen that at any level of football.

Absolutely the best attitude to take. Seriously.

Only 2 teams have gone undefeated from start to finish .... 1989 Georgia Southern, and 1996 Marshall. Can't remember which year it was that Montana went 15-1 (loss to Hawaii ... probably was 2001).

Losing sometimes puts a little fire in the belly. The playoff records are littered with teams that went to the postseason starting 11-0, and didn't emerge winning the National Championship.

Well, that just sucked. Bison came into this game with everything to gain and first defense couldn't do anything, then the offense lays an egg to finish the game. Couple thoughts.

DJ McNorton has regressed so much from the kind of player he was last season. Every time he touched the ball today, whether on kickoff return or out of the backfield, his first choice was to dance around and look for the hole rather than hit it. Sam Ojuri was one of our better, if not best, offensive players today and it showed up in the stats. The fumble to start the second half was absolutely brutal and combined with YSU's score at the end of the first half just broke the will of the Bison. Kudos to a program that really had us scouted out today and just had an answer for everything we contrived.

I mean seriously, after a huge punt return that brings you to the opposing 34, how do you respond by going backwards five yards and forced to go for it on like fourth and 20? YSU wanted a shot at the playoffs more than we wanted an undefeated record and top playoff seed and it showed in the game. Frankly they outplayed us in a lot of phases in the game and once again let me congratulate Penguin fans on a resuscitated shot at the playoffs - a win over #1 certainly helps your case.

Looking to the future - NDSU wins next week and we split the conference title with either UNI or Illinois State. That was still goal #1 and it's still attainable. Still can very well get a seed with a 10-1 record and a Big Ten win. Break down the tape, find what went wrong and fix it. Bison shouldn't be lower than 6 on Monday and I'll probably have them at 4 or 5 - still have a case for being ranked ahead of UNI and Lehigh, but MSU, SHSU and GSU most definitely move up this week. Congratulations to Montana State on likely being the new #1.

Good game, Youngstown State. The score didn't reflect how much better you were than us today.

Should NDSU lose and ISUr win next week, ISUr(6-2) and NDSU(6-2) and UNI(6-2) share with NDSU winning the autobid.

My oh my, hows that powerball looking now. I will say that NDSU is an improvement over Bobby Ball, at least they stacked the box and stopped Youngstown from running at the end of the game to at least get the ball back and show everyone their passing attack. Bobby would have let them go on a 12 play 6-8 minute clock killing running attack by refusing to stack the line. He would of course had yelled at everyone to get tougher and just man up.

It does if it is the last game that you played before the ranking in question - which was a loss to an UNRANKED team

thanks for playing, however

I should clarify that I'm looking solely at the AGS poll - the one that's had the most credibility all season. Also, I notice you're slowly getting less-confident in your initial assertions guaranteeing 8th-place for an NDSU team that just lost to an unranked team at home. I'm curious as to why.

Youngstown went 14-0-1.

I should clarify that I'm looking solely at the AGS poll - the one that's had the most credibility all season. Also, I notice you're slowly getting less-confident in your initial assertions guaranteeing 8th-place for an NDSU team that just lost to an unranked team at home. I'm curious as to why.

Says the rube homer who votes in the AGS poll... when you are looking at the poll released today let me know how many MVFC nonconference FCS top 25 wins the conference has - my guess is zero. MVFC has two quality nonconference FCS wins SUU and it gets really thin after that. Ops the conference has two FBS win Minn/W. Kent props.
