New article about Bryant's Jordan Brown in the front page of the Providence Journal's sports section.

Brown is a junior running back for Bryant who happens to lead the entire country at the Division I (FCS) level in rushing and all-purpose yards, a 5-foot-9 whirlwind who clearly could play college football at a higher level. He is having the kind of dream season that the overwhelming majority of players can’t even fantasize about.
But this isn’t really about that, as amazing as that is.
This is about the journey he took to get here, and the Bulldog mentality lessons he’s learned along the way.
For it all could have ended for Brown that afternoon four years ago, because it was a crushing injury, no question about that. The interest from Boston College and UConn went away. The letters from other schools stopped coming. All the hype and all the attention went away like some game that already was over.
“It taught me that everything can get taken away, just like that,” he says.

Additionally, some new information in regards to Bryant's recent NCAA visit; which appeared to go exactly as planned.

NCAA Peer Review Team completes visit

Bryant University welcomed the NCAA Peer Review Team to campus last week, completing another step in the Division I reclassification process. The purpose of the visit was tri-fold: to confirm accuracy of the NCAA Self-Study Report submitted by the university last spring, to confirm the broad-based participation of the campus community in creating the report, and to confirm the University’s conformity to the NCAA’s Division I operating principles.

Specific areas of the self-study included governance and rules compliance, academic integrity, gender equity, and diversity/student-athlete welfare. The peer review team met with the steering committee and the chairs of each subcommittee, which consisted of representatives from various departments on campus, student-athletes, coaches and alumni.

“We received a favorable review from the NCAA Peer Review Team following their visit to our campus,” said Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley. “Since the peer review team identified zero issues, we are very optimistic about final approval from the Division I Committee on Athletic Certification.”

Once a decision is made, the Division I Committee on Athletic Certification will forward its findings to the Division I Membership Committee, who will then issue a final decision in early July.

He is also a functional kick/punt returner and may have a career in that at the next level. It's very hard to make it to the NFL with his size as a pure running back. My advice would be to focus on real development in ST.

Seems like a fine young man, as well as an outstanding football player.

It would be nice if he got some looks and got to participate in some camps. Bryant has only had one player that was even close to being on any radars and after a few workouts he sort of disappeared. Hopefully being on the Payton watchlist will help him out over the next year and a half.

I was very impressed with him when I saw him play. Looked like he sure had a future as a returner and ST star against SHU. Hopefully good things will come his way.

He had another good week with almost 160 yards. Hopefully he can have 2 big games to end the year and be a serious contender.

Congrats Bryant and a thank you for beating our beloved Great Danes. Sounds weird right? It is a true service to UA.

You have brought this team back down to earth. They were running through the NEC like a hot knife through butter and were getting very cocky. This A$$ whippiong will serve as a wakeup call to these players.

I think a new rivaly is born with Bryant ...no doubt about it. I think UA took you lightly and you guys stuffed us at everyturn!!! No excuses the best team won on saturday.

This will be a good game every year

Bryant seems to have a strong class so far and it looks like it could get a lot better. It seems like it is the class of the NEC so far and they are putting together a good FCS class. When looking at other schools Bryant seems to be pretty high on the list for commits so far (I do know a bunch are unrated kids).

Don't bother with ESPN/Scout/Rivals for FCS recruiting.

Not enough participation or info on most of these kids to have any accurate assessment of recruiting classes.

Thanks for the heads up. This is the first I have seen on Bryant with recruits and while it looked somewhat promising it also looked like it was either missing a lot of information or Bryant is recruiting a lot earlier than some schools.

BTW, do you or anyone who reads this know of any decent sites for FCS recruiting info?

Its been tough sledding to find any info any kids other than the top couple hundred in the country.

I think the only way you'll get accurate info is if you have a really strong local beat writer.

Unfortunately Bryant doesn't have one. URI, Brown, and PC all get great coverage and the only coverage Bryant gets are copies of the bryant athletic website stories.

Any NEC teams have good beat writers? It seems like Monmouth gets good coverage.

Monmouth definitely has aleg up with the Asbury Park Press.

CCSU has a good writer a the New Britain Herald I think.

We have a newer writer at the Troy Record that is great, but they're a secondary paper. The main paper is anti-UA so we get the shaft there.

Wagner gets some good press in the Staten Island Advance, another secondary paper in a much larger market.
