This poll is starting to look better but it actually amazes me that "coaches" put this together? With all do respect to SDSU...can somebody please describe why they are still pulling more votes than Cal Poly? It is ridiculous. Also anybody who really feels that San Diego has any business in this poll...you have lost your mind.

Exactly! Some of these coaches are simply looking at W/L and therefore San Diego looks pretty good with 1 loss. Never mind the loss was a lopsided one to UC Davis who is not even in the polls and all their wins are against arguably the weakest teams in all of FCS!!

not too bad in general but there are still several things that make you really wonder how many people can be that wrong on some teams

ISUR...not ISUB. But I yeah they crushed USD and held them to 100 total yards. I have no idea why either USD or UND get so much love. People should be ranking Cal Poly, Samford, Norfolk State, ODU, ISU Red, Chatty, Richmond, Havard, Sac State and I guess in polls that allow it UMass over them.

I'm actually more dissapointed because I would expect the SID to be more informed about teams across the country and have more time to research it than the coaches.

I interned at NDSU. The NDSU SID is the first one to the Fargodome on gameday and the last one to leave. He has no time to watch any game but NDSU. During football season SIDs are just as busy as coaches. Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if an assistant on the staff or perhaps a graduate assistant are voting in some cases.

That said, when our coach was eligible to vote in this poll. He actually voted in it. I think our SID votes in the TSN poll.

W&M was ranked too high last week and probably still too high this week. They CAN beat most teams in the top 25 but, realistically, wouldn't beat many of them. Any team on this list that can't stop the run would lose to W&M. IMO, beating UNH negates the loss to UD.

Fear the Bird, speaking of remaining schedules, what do you think is the number?

by number, I mean how many more games will Delaware lose this year?

2?
3?

oops!

...Not at all what he was getting at...
IF Delaware makes the playoffs, they are likely to host an early round game, unless the Hens play a seeded team. Only way UD would be playing @ Lehigh is if you had a seed. In order get a seed, you'll have to get good enough wins that you continue winning and having those wins mean something and get the attention of the committee.
Think.

BTW, I have Lehigh ranked pretty highly in my poll, and winning out would give you a seed IMO.

I hope this poll isn't used for anything. I never thought I'd say this but even the GPI is better than this garbage. How is a 4-3 UD team ahead of a 5-1 Maine team that beat UD by 2TD's?? People just don't pay attention. Perfect example of why pre-season polls & polls that happen before 10/1 are a bad thing sometimes. Pollsters are by definition generally lazy - and none are lazier than the coaches or SID's - whoever is actually placing these votes. Cmon, in reality they look at where they had teams ranked the week before, did a team W or L (if they even know that), and adjust accordingly. It's the only excuse I can think of where a team like Maine - who is the top CAA team currently - can be ranked where they are.

And I'll be watching here in the comfort of my living room in the California mountains.

it should be a very exciting game. I would not be surprised to see ND score 30 or so points, most of them in the air. Unfortunately, Andre Broadous and crew will probably find the endzone 5 or 6, maybe 7 times and what is expected to be a close game will not be one.

But ... I do believe your football team is improving, and you have been recruiting some excellent athletes. North Dakota should do well in the Big Sky in a year or two. I'll be watching!

Whoa buddy. Settle down. There's no need to take that condescending tone. I realize you're a freshman and you're not quite into the swing of the whole college thing yet.

NDSU already has a poor reputation online thanks to the hijinks of several "fans." There's no need to add to the stereotype by coming off with such a arrogant post. Tone it down a bit.

Since we have no playoffs the win against SUU is big not only for UND but for USD. We are fighting for a conference title...UC Davis, Cal Poly, and SUU are fighting for a playoff berth. Polls are nice for UND is boosts the confidence factor a bit with players and gives fans something to talk about but its not everything. Winning the last ever GWFC is everything for 2011. That is the goal for UND, just like winning a national title is a goal for NDSU. Next season winning a Big Sky Title and a National Title will be UND's goal.
