To be fair, Lafayette is struggling and the weather in the Lehigh Valley was suppose to be terrible.

Lehigh didn't exactly pack 'em today either. Crowd was decent but nothing to brag about.

FCS games on Saturday afternoons (with a few exceptions) are not going to draw what some Ivies and HC drew through the 1980's...it's a different world today...have to schedule more night games, be more creative in marketing etc to draw a decent (15K+) crowd for a game between 2 FCS schools today.

I know it's tickets sold and not actual attendance, but it was odd how JMU's attendance looked UD-like today - tons of empty spaces all over the stadium. And that was even before the second half, when the stadium looked near empty at times just after halftime. What was the weather like, is that why people left in droves? The game was still close so it wasn't the score.

It was a disappointment to some.

Quite a few season ticket holders did not show. I would guess they are harvesting and too lazy to give away their tickets.

The announcer typically announced 16500+ in the begining of the 4th. This game was not announced because it was a disapointment at 18900... (Capacity is supposedly 18700)

In the first half there were some empty spots in the crowd at the beginning although that's not unusual as some people just don't want to stop tailgating. I never got a good look at the home side, although I think it was pretty much full.

The mass exodus at halftime was shocking to me though, regardless of the rain. It was pretty lame.

No, wrong again GF. JMU counts only the tickets that are scanned (probably technology that's a bit too advanced/fancy for UD), so the 25,742 were butts in seats.

I think it had to do a bunch with the weather. It was pretty cold for this time of year and a light rain made it much worse. People probably wanted to get an early start on the festivities at night as well.

As for the announced attendance, it seemed about right to me as there were only some upper level endzone seats not filled which wasn't much to begin with. Pretty good showing by the Dukes as well!

Oh yes, there were 25k Duke Dogs and concession workers. Talk about a funny man with a skewed outlook. How's the attendance doing at UD these days? Noticed the Hens were now 4th in the CAA behind JMU, ODU and GSU.

Well, calling it lame from the comfort of home seems a little harsh. If you weren't there you really have no idea. By the end of the 3rd it was in the 40s, windy and raining hard. Also, given that it was Homecoming, and the game was well in hand, many opted to visit more with friends and resume their tailgating out of the elements.

Yea, I'm not one to leave early, but once we scored the TD to go up by 3 scores, I was done (early 4th Q). And I think most fans realized that UR was not going to be moving the ball significantly anyway and figured two scores was enough to get them out of there. It was pretty miserable weather.

Yes, they do ... because I guess they're "technically" in attendance. In the first home game JMU drew 25,100 ... despite seating capacity being around 24,877. There were probably about 300-500 people counted for game operations, etc. This past weekend, the HC crowd was announced at 25,500+ ... so again ... 25,000 fans in attendance.

I was referring more to the fact that a significant portion of the crowd had already left when it was 14-7 still. I can understand it when the game is well in hand, but people were leaving in droves well before that from what I could see.

Unfortunately watching it from the comfort of home was the only option I had as I live really really far away. I did get to go to one game this year at UNC and unlike the majority of my friends who left as early as halftime, I stuck it out in the blazing sun until after JMU's last possession of the game.

Nearly 100 FCS teams average better than that sorry *** excuse for a program. They've had home games of 3563, 4771, and 3375 in their conference opener.

The high was against Alabama State. Eastern Michigan to the SWAC?

With Lafayette and Lehigh playing at the same time it hurts both crowds. With good weather and a decent team Lafayette should get over 8k for a game against Harvard.

Chilly and overcast is normal football weather for this time of year. It's now excuse. I'm really embarrassed by that figure. Harvard at home? Where were the students? Harvard drew 9,000 in 2005 and 7,000 last year.

We've only had 1 home game so far this season which was a sellout at 11,075 (standing attendance not counted). This coming Saturday, our 2nd home game will be against DII Central Oklahoma. Not sure if that will sell out or not, but I suspect it will. The following week is guaranteed sellout game with Southern Utah. Wish they could FINISH THE EXPANSION!!!! Next phase is supposed to take us to 24,000+
