Here are bios on 2 All-American Candidates who got a 5th year recently. They are both NFL prospects as well.

KEVIN BOOTHE
Senior * Offensive Line (Right Tackle) • 6-5 • 300
Plantation, Fla. (Pine Crest School)
At Cornell: The anchor of the offensive line, Boothe is a two-time first-team All-Ivy League selection and is widely considered the top lineman in the league. A true All-America candidate, Boothe has tremendous size and quickness along with a great understanding of the game, which has put him on the NFL radar screen entering his final season. He was granted a fifth-year of eligibility after missing his freshman season with an injury. Boothe made the transition from right guard to right tackle with ease last season and was the only unanimous first-team selection on the line in 2004. He will once again be a tremendous presence and leader on a young line for the Big Red this season. As a sophomore, he was named to the All-Ivy second team, becoming one of just three Ivy second-year players on offense to be named to the squad. Boothe is a student in the School of Hotel Administration. At Pine Crest: Boothe played on both the offensive and defensive lines at the Pine Crest School. A team co-captain as a senior, he was a first-team all-county selection as well as a second-team all-state pick. He had 40 tackles and caused two fumbles in 2000. Personal: Kevin Mark Boothe is the son of Charles and Pat Boothe and has an older brother, Charles, who played football at East Carolina University.

JOEL SUSSMAN
Senior * Safety • 6-4 • 232
Great Neck, N.Y. (Great Neck North HS)
At Cornell: An All-Ivy caliber player and potential NFL Draft prospect, Sussman enters his final season with plenty to prove. Before being injured in the fourth game of the season, Sussman was having a dominant campaign at the whip position, posting 31 total tackles and blocking three field goal attempts. Sussman increased his school record total of blocked kicks to six, earning Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week after posting 10 tackles, blocking two field goal attempts, recovering a fumble and posting a tackle for loss in the team’s opener vs. Bucknell. He returned to the Big Red after missing the 2003 fall season because of an injury. One of the most dedicated and hardest-working players on the team, he is known for his hard-nosed, aggressive play and will provide leadership to the defense. A dominant force at linebacker in previous seasons, Sussman earned second-team All-Ivy recognition as a sophomore after leading the Big Red in tackles (90) in 10 starts. He also recorded five tackles for loss, was credited with two forced and recovered fumbles, three passes defended and a pair of blocked kicks. One of his top performances of 2002 was in the overtime win against Brown, where he recorded 10 tackles, including one for a loss of 15 yards. Late in the game, he stripped the ball away and then recovered the fumble, giving the offense the chance to drive down the field en route to the win. He also recorded 11 tackles against Princeton and had a season-high 13 in the win over Dartmouth. Sussman saw action in all nine games for the Big Red as a rookie, primarily on special teams. He recorded 17 total tackles for the year,
including five solo efforts. He had two tackles for loss vs. Harvard,
including a 5-yard sack and closed out 2001 with a blocked kick against
Penn in the season finale. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture
and Life Sciences. At Great Neck: Sussman was an all-county selection
in football at Great Neck North HS. A two-year letter winner, he served as
the team’s captain his senior year. Sussman also played lacrosse and
was a two-time all-county pick on defense. He was selected to play in the
NY/LI all-star game his senior year. Personal: Joel Matthew Sussman is the
son of Don and Karen Sussman and has two brothers and a sister. Sussman’s
parents are both Cornell graduates.

Cornell should be improved this year as well with Knowles as their coach. I don't think they're ready to bump Harvard or Penn out of the top but they're moving towards the top half of the league. Should be a good game in Hamilton this year.

As a player evaluator I must say I like Sussman and Boothe a lot. Both will get a shot as free agents in training camp next year.

I think both Brown and Cornell could be in the Ivy race this year.

1. these 2 guys sound great on paper. Gotta love a 6'4 232lb safety for God's sake!

2. Brown is going to be good? Got any info you can share on that (since we play them 10/8)?

Nothing specific, Fordham, except Brown gets Hartigan back and I heard they'll be better on D (their Achilles heel last year).
