I guess someone needs to get this started!

Well its simple... UNH's performance in this game will tell us what we have. And I am hoping its something good, because if Decker ends up being on that "Bad year we had" team Im gonna cry!

GO CATS!

It'd sure be a shame if that is the case. As long as the defense tightens up, this team will be just fine. How's Richmond's passing game?

Here's the rundown from the UR football site....

The Game
• No. 5 Richmond is home for the third-consecutive week, hosting No. 11 New Hampshire in the CAA Football opener for both teams.

• The Spiders hold a narrow 10-9 advantage in the all-time series that has been dominated by the home team -- Richmond is 7-3 all-time versus UNH in games played in Richmond.

• Richmond has won four of its last five conference-openers.

• The teams last met at Cowell Stadium on Oct. 9, 2010, with the Wildcats winning 17-0.

• The match-up is one of three games in the FCS involving top-15 ranked teams this week.

Quick Slants
• Richmond enters the game ranked No. 5 in the Sports Network/Fathead.com Top 25, matching the Spiders’ highest spot in the poll since ranking No. 5 in the fourth week of the 2010 season.

• The Spiders have been ranked 10th or higher in 41 of the last 52 polls issued by the Sports Network since 2007, including a 38-consecutive poll stretch between 2007 and 2010.

• UR is 3-0 for the first time since 2009 (started 8-0) and one of three 3-0 FCS teams currently -- Richmond is the only undefeated team in the FCS that owns an FBS win (at Duke, 21-20, on Sept. 3).

• Richmond has won six-consecutive home games and that winning streak is tied for the third-longest active streak in the FCS behind Central Conn. State (15) and Jacksonville (10). In the eight-game history of Robins Stadium, the Spiders are 7-1.

• At 103.3 yards/game, senior WR Tre Gray is the 15th-leading receiver in the nation and ranked third in the league. He’s coming off a two-TD, 96-yard effort in last week’s win over VMI.

• Gray is 33 catches and 446 yards shy of the respective Richmond career records.

• Senior QB Aaron Corp has already recorded nine passes of 25-yards or longer this season -- as a team, Richmond had just 11 all last season.

• Richmond leads CAA Football in Red Zone defense this season, allowing opponents to score on just three of eight trips (38 percent).

• Junior LB Darius McMillan has recorded double-digit tackles in each of Richmond’s first three games and leads the Spiders (ranked third in the league) with 33 stops this season.

• Senior CB Tremayne Graham broke up three passes vs. VMI -- tied for the second-most recorded in an FCS game this season.

I am excited for this game! It will be fun to watch a crucial game for both teams to win. A win for Richmond puts them at 4-0 (1-0) and keeps them in line for their shot at the conference title. While a win for UNH will put a lot of relief into the Wildcats fans as I think most of us still are unsure of where we truly stand. We win an we are 2-1 (1-0) and off to the right start as far as in conference games go.

The UNH defense...has A LOT of work to do before we can actually compete for a national title or a CAA title for that matter. Our offense is one of the best in the nation, so I am not so worried about things on that side of the ball. If this gets into a shoot out, then UNH will win. If it is a low scoring affair then it will most likely go to UR. Saturday, 3:30 cannot come soon enough!

Also, for those watching CAA on TV this week, we have a real treat with a triple header! Super excited!

This game gets played in the 30s. Turnovers will be key since i think both offenses will be able to score a lot of points.

Looks like a good one. I just checked the weather forecast and they're predicting a 60% chance of rain. With a tacke to tackle power running game (at least according to what the local paper says) that may favor UR. However, with six fumbles in the last two games (four lost) it might make things interesting. Richmond is not exactly a offensive juggernaut, averaging about 230 passing yards per against two mediocre teams, Wagner and VMI, and Corp had two inerceptions last week. UNH has had some tough luck on offensive losing Chris Jeannott for the season. This week they moved Brian Ciccone back from DE to TE to bolster the receiving corp. How the defense plays will be the deciding factor.

One clarification: Corp didn't have any INT's last week. Very efficient game from him. UR suffered a couple of injuries to our D-Line, so that is probably the most concerning thing from our side.

I am in NH as well. I was going strictly off of the CAA website, where it lists all 3 games as CSN-NE. I just checked the local listings online and I noticed you are correct. What the ****? That ticks me off, I wanted to see ODU/Del. At least the UNH game is still on. I would probably have probably killed someone. That really dissapoints me.

I think that if the UNH defense doesn't look much improved this one, it may, unfortunately, be a long season in Durham. A win here could really spring-board a 4-1 start with winnable home games in the next two against Holy Cross and Villanova.

The defense is so strange. Two great players...and 9 other guys. That defense last year spoiled us. Back to the typical UNH defenses that we had in the days of Santos.

One clarification: Corp didn't have any INT's last week. Very efficient game from him. UR suffered a couple of injuries to our D-Line, so that is probably the most concerning thing from our side.

The 2 INTs were against Wagner. One was totally the receiver - after the catch, he spun to get more yardage and the ball came out directly at the defender. The other was from forcing a pass in the endzone from the 10, after a high shotgun snap.

Corp has thrown a career longest pass in each of the three games this year - 48 then 56 then 69 - all to different receivers.

How is the UNH run game? Is there a feature back? Maybe it is because of the Duke game, but I still think our pass defense is better than our run defense so far this year. That may continue if the remaining DLine gets pressure...

UNH features a speed/power combo at halfback with Dontra Peters and Chris Setian. Nico Steriti also gets a few carries too and he looks promising as a R-FR. However, as fans we expected a lot more from the run game so far considering the team was returning 4 out of 5 olinemen and Peters and Setian were back. Unfortunately the run game has been subpar, averaging only 3.7 yards per carry in two games. Reading recent articles it seems UNH is really working on that aspect and will try real hard to establish a run game against UR. Luckily, if it doesnt get going we have a great passing attack.

Looks like weather should be fairly dry here tomorrow, except for scattered t-storms. It is very humid right now and I hope that works to our favor.

I agree with the Richmond poster that called for a shootout.

Good luck to UNH. Did any of you guys make the trip?

UNH folks will be in lot R 10 near the Business School. I'm planning to get there early. Come on by Big House for a cold Octoberfest.

Unfortunately, it's been raining all morning. Not the monsoons seen yesterday, just a steady light rain. And the last time I looked at a radar, there was a narrow band of rain over Raleigh and Richmond that seems to be moving North. Hopefully, it will get a little eastward movement and it will be dry this afternoon.

I think the offense needs to play to Decker's strengths a bit more ... by that, I mean, he's not going to make tight throws due to his weak arm. He has great touch and feel on the ball, though, and we should focus a bit more on that. The Mello pass play is exactly what I'm referring to.

UNH defense has started to look very opportunistic. IMO, Chris Beranger looks like a real leader at safety. Still real disappointed with the play of Kyle Flemings, but Sean McCann and Jared Smith have been great.

on second down UR had a 10 yard pass play. 3rd down was another 10 yard pass play, and they went for it on 4th and 9 and completed a 12 yard pass play. It was a great catch but should have been broken up by UNH. Still, holding them to a FG is a win

Great friggin game! wow, loved watching it. Announcers from CSN-NE were pretty good overall towards both teams, and said it all when the saw everything you could see in a football game except the hook and ladder play!
UNH is great on offense and took advantage of the turnovers UR gave them. Pissed me off that UR spotted them 21 points at the beginning of the 2rd quarter (interception for TD, fumbled kick on the 10 and interception for a TD within 4 minutes). That was the difference. Was equally proud that UR was able to fight back and score the way they did, hell of a lot better this year in that we can actually play catchup when we need to. Our offense is running on all cylinders. However like I said in an earlier post, UR's turnovers killed them and will continue to do so if they don't get that straight. After watching the W&M-JMU game last night, I think it is going to be a BRAWL in Harrisionburg come next weekend!

This game gets played in the 30s. Turnovers will be key since i think both offenses will be able to score a lot of points.

I meant to say 40s. Those 3 turnovers that lead to TDs killed us. Fun game, on to JMU.
