Hey nice job Radman--the pics look better here than in the paper! Thought the article was interesting, too with Coen's focus on running the ball late in the game. No question that was our downfall last year in all three losses--not being able to keep possession and run the clock while leading in the fourth quarter..Two back sets with scatbacks like Thompson and pounders between the tackles with Fay and Pastore with a heightened focus on hardnosed drive blocking sounds good. Looking forward to next Saturday, although current longrange forecast calling for showers.

Man those uniforms are ugly, even in practice version!

xcoffeex I notice that only the pictures from the article entitled "Lehigh working hard to erase bad memories of last season" are posted here. Notably, the following quote has been omitted:

"...clearly, the Leopards seem to have everything Lehigh used to have and wants back, most notably the reputation as the best I-AA college football program in the area."

Is this "smack?" I hope so. I spent most of the 90s watching Fatso Russo do nothing more than collect a pay check while I was biting my tongue and crying in my beer.

As for the uniform thing, there isn't a heckuva lot that you can do with brown. Still, as someone pointed out in another thread, mixing in the gold has helped a lot. They are not totally hideous.

Hey, if recruits ever picked their schools based on school colors we'd be lucky to be D-III.

You know, you changed mascots, was there any thought to changing colors at the time?

It's not unheard of to change colors - although most of that kind of stuff happened in the 20s when athletics got bigger. I believe Colgate's original colors had either orange or pink in them before the "Red" Raiders were coined.

If it's pretty universally disliked, why not scrap the Brown Lehigh fans?

Because we love to complain about it.:D It has actually become somewhat unique and we have no problem poking fun at it. It has been Brown for 120 years, so 'old habits are hard to let go of'. And since we've added the old gold accents, it's become palatable. Sort of like the cheese sauce being added to the brussel sprouts.:D

While Brown & White aren't the sexiest colors out there, they sure do scream old-school and traditional. They definitely are unique and not likely to be copied. :) I think they also reflect the blue-collar nature of old Bethlehem and the greater Lehigh Valley.

Losing the Brown and White colors would be a tough thing if for no other reason than it is ingrained in our history and its the name of our Student Newspaper.

Personally, I kind of like the colors, but I'm an old school kind of guy...

Very true. While we all agree brown isn't the most 'colorful' motif a school could have, there are few others that use it; hence it does give us a little unique identifier. And as seen with the brouhaha regarding the Mountain Hawk, changing the colors would be messing with too much tradition. Bad Karma there,,,
