SIU total Offense 420, Ole Miss 315; 19-18 SIU in first downs, 5.9 ypc rushing for SIU to 4.5 for Ole Miss; 30:57 to 29:03 in TOP; Punting: SIU 47.7 yards per punt to Ole Miss 42.2 BUT SIU threw 4 Int two of which eventually turned out to be Ole Miss TDs (one a 6 yard drive) and gave up a punt return for a TD--falling behind 21-0 in the first few minutes of the first quarter. I think we'll be pretty good.

You should outgain them if you give them a short field. :)

And that we did, but they really are that much bigger and faster and athleticer. However, you gotta be happy when you look a little deeper - breaking off a 74 yard run and a 53 yard pass on any SEC defense is laudable, as is going 7-15 on 3rd down, and 3-3 on 4th down. Avg. 5.9 yards per rush on an SEC defense? What won't be noticed by many is the play of our NT, Kayon Swanson, which has been Boothbyesque for the second week in a row. Two sacks against an enormous line and six tackles for the second week in a row. He stays healthy and the MVC has a problem. They did a very good job after spotting Ole Miss 21 points in the first six minutes of the game. xthumbsupx

Putting up number like that against an SEC D is still impressive. SIU should be a very formidable team this year.
