HAMMOND, La. - The format for the annual Southeastern Louisiana Spring Football Game has been announced and fans of Lions' football will have their last opportunity to catch the team in action as the game kicks off at 4 p.m. Saturday in Strawberry Stadium.

Second-year head coach Dennis Roland announced that his squad will split into green and white teams and play four quarters of action.

The teams will play two 12-minute quarters in the first half and, following a 20-minute intermission, will play two 10-minute quarters in the second half.

Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid I.D. All seating is general admission. The game will also be broadcast on Kajun 107.1 FM in the Hammond area.

"We're expecting a great day for the conclusion of our spring practice," remarked Roland. "But it will be more than just a game as we honor Doc Goodwin for his outstanding service, commitment and dedication to the university."

Goodwin, who announced his retirement from the university effective April 5, has been the Lons' athletics trainer for the last 31 years.

He will be recognized during a special halftime ceremony and also at a reception in his honor following the game. The reception will run from approximately 6 - 7:30 p.m. and will be held in East Stadium at the Contemporary Arts Center. Light refreshments will be served. In lieu of gifts, donations are being accepted for the Bob and Sandy Goodwin Scholarship Fund. For more information, contact Tom Dawsey at 985-549-5091.

Great way to close out the spring!!! Lucas and Perry are as good as advertised and it's amazing how good they are at catching the ball out of the backfield. They're bigger than a lot of LBs and both have great hands. I can tell you right now they're gonna cause matchup problems for most of the teams we play.

Brandon Jones looked good running the number one offense. He's silky smooth in the pocket and has a great arm. He aired one ball out about 60-65 yards in the air with no effort and put it right on the money (dropped). He showed touch on the 98-yd TD to Lucas by lofting the ball perfectly over a trailing LB down the the sideline. Lucas made a great catch and outran everybody to the endzone.

The O-line did reasonably well despite missing three starters. They had their share of breakdowns and we can't go into the fall with what we had out there today but once we get everybody back and the newcomers arrive, we'll be just fine.

Defensively, we've got the makings of a dominant bunch!!! Things were pretty vanilla today but we've got speed everywhere and we're deep at every position.
