Central Connecticut Blue Devils (2011 Poll Finish – 1st)
2010 Record: 8-3, 7-1 NEC
2010 NEC Finish: t-1st

Success running the football has translated into plenty of wins in New Britain. Central Connecticut has been the NEC’s top-ranked rushing team at every season’s end since head coach Jeff McInerney took over the program in 2006. Since that point in time, the Blue Devils have enjoyed five consecutive winning seasons and have captured two conference crowns.

Central has gone 14-2 in its last 16 league games, and, following a shared title last year, the Blue Devils are favored to make another run at NEC supremacy.

"We don’t look at polls," said McInerney. "The 2011 Blue Devils have a chance and that’s all a good man can ask."

Surprisingly, Central has remained atop the league rankings in rushing offense despite little continuity in its backfield from year to year. The Blue Devils will once again need to find a new featured running back being that Hofstra transfer Everette Benjamin, who ran for 1,330 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2010, has exhausted his eligibility.
