Bailiff was happier about this scrimmage than the last one as the Bobcats ran through various situations during their second scrimmage. The defense was bullied around when defending the goal line as the offense scored on four of its first six plays from inside the five during the goal-line work which means the Bobcats OLine is off to a strong start if they're getitng their guys into the end zone..

Of note, touted QB Bradley George was held from the scrimmage because of a foot injury but is expected to return next week.

SAN MARCOS - Texas State went through a variety of situations from first-and-goal to third-and-long as the squad went through an 89-play scrimmage to wrap up the third week of spring practices on Friday.

The Bobcats close out the 15-practice spring season with workouts slated for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday before the team is divided into two units for the annual Maroon and Gold Classic slated for Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m.

Friday's scrimmage began with 16 straight third-down plays followed by another 16 plays from inside the defense's five during a goal-line segment. The Bobcats also went through series which started on the short side of the field as well as midfield.

"We came out here with a purpose," said third-year Texas State coach David Bailiff. "I thought we had great effort. We saw a lot of success with our offense as well as a lot of success with the defensive unit. I think you could just feel the passion we had out here today."
