Congrats to I-16Bandit today! Man after struggling yesterday he makes a big comeback today to take the top spot. UNIFanSince1983 & BlueHenSinfonian were pushing hard but came up just a tad slower on this day.

Some of the overall leaders must have been otherwise occupied or are resting on their laurels a bit because I think the top 10 is gonna be a little tighter race than it appeared yesterday.

The questions:

1. According to cbssports.com what was Eddie Robinson's quote concerning his legendary status?
2. According to the Big Souths official website, in 2005, on what DATE did Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb play?
3. According to the Colonial Athletic Associations athletics site, how many YPG did Towson’s Pass Defense allow in 2007?

Here's how it shook out today...

Game start time: 7/26/2011 12:00:04

You've been in that top 3 to 5 too long not to be a favorite for one of these last 3 tests.

Since it sits at Pea Ridge, and they carried the field, I believe it is theirs. Near where Ben McCullough did his ill-conceived one man reconaissance.

Van Dorn at Elkhorn Tavern was indeed tragic. General McCullough's star was on the ascent and if he had been spared I think he would have been the equal to Genl Cleburne.

McCullough died in his black velvet suit.

Van Dorn's brain was located in his groin. Holly Springs was all he ever did right, and that wasn't very hard.

If McCullough would have equaled Patrick Ronayne Cleburne, he would have been something. Idiot Hood. What was he thinking at Franklin!

Earl Van Dorn getting shot and killed for schtupping the Dr's wife while surviving battle is the strangest tale of our Second War of Independence.

At Franklin Genl Hood did the only thing he could have done. He had two choices.... attack or give up his campaign. Even though the war was lost at that point the Army of Tennessee was in good spirits and many of those men were fighting for their own hearths and homes.

citdog,

Read Company Aytch by Sam Watkins? Fiction about Franklin would be Widow of the South.

Winston Groom's recent Vicksburg 1863 reads as smoothly as Shelby Foote.

Hood is still an idiot, half drugged all the time with his pain from the loss of limbs, and generaling an army. Should have been Cleburne, except for his controversial proposal. Yanks downright feared the Moon.

My Dad gave me the Watkins book for my 10th birthday. It has always been a favorite of mine.

The assassination of the character of Genl Hood which you give an example of above is an invention of ONE 'historian' Wiley Sword. Read what people who knew Genl Hood and were present during the his campaign in Tennessee here.

I do not agree with Sword on those harsh words either, but I simply feel, despite his bravery and passion, Hood should not have advanced beyond Division commander.

Tomorrow will be your day, UNIFan. I haven't made it that far, unless you agree that the first day's answer should have been Gil Dobie. I might as well jack the thread with citdog. :>)
