Bobcats welcome talented transfers to spring drills

Coming off an 11-3 season and an appearance in the Division I-AA semifinals, the Texas State Bobcats are carrying a lot of momentum into spring workouts. Considering the quality and number of transfers that have flocked to San Marcos, all the national attention the Bobcats received is beginning to pay off.

Seven transfers, five from Division I-A programs, opened spring drills with the rest of the team on Monday.

The group added to what was the best recruiting season ever for the program, as 19 standouts signed National Letters of Intent to play at Texas State in early February.

“It really did help us, with the season we had and the exposure we got,” said Texas State head coach David Bailiff. Texas State ended its season with an overtime loss to Northern Iowa in the semifinals and had all three of its playoff games televised on ESPN2. “All of them watched us on ESPN and there's no doubt that helped us a lot.” ...
